faced 6144477 Twenty years have elapsed srnce the class of 53 has completed therr education at good old Ayersvrlle High School Srnce we haven't taken a lengthy vacatron for some Ilme we decrded to vrsrt some of our classmates of 1953 Our first stop was to vrsrt SHIRLEY MOORE rn Flrnt Mrchrgan She and her husband had just frnrshed redecoratrng therr home Shrrley told us that another of our classmates CLEON SHUMAKER was lrvrng on the adJornrng farm He had also devoted hrs younger years to prrze frghtrng Whrle passing through Los Angeles Calrfornra we decrded to stop and eat lunch A this restaurant we saw GEORGIA BARKER wrth two of her children The other four were rn school Georgra told us that ANNA MAE SCHAFFER was now a famous movre star She had just frnrshed her 20th movre wrth JERRY MANSFIELD as her co star From here we drove to Florrda to vrsrt RUBY MAY and her husband Gene Feeney Ruby and Gene were operatrng a luxurrous resort along the ocean Next we chartered a Jet plane to the Hawarran Islands to vrsrt HARRY BRECKLER who was supervrsrng a 4 000 acre sugar plantatron Harry was dorng well rn thrs business Whrle sarlrng to Asra on the Atom Shrp we became extremely sea srck We call ed the captarn which was to our surprise JIM KENNEDY hm had served as captain of the shrp for 5 years Before this he had been at the New York Naval Yard Jim sent for the shrp s doctor BRIAN MANSFIELD Brran had served as rntern and doctor at the Walter Reed Hosprtal Wrth hrm was hrs charming nurse PHYLLIS STITES Phrl had served as an army nurse and later as head nurse at Ann Arbor Hospital Talkrng over old trmes cured us of our sea sickness We then proceded to Europe where we were met at a Polrsh dock by ALICE GOLLER Alrce was waiting for her husband Stub Mock to return from hrs frshrng expedrtron rn the Baltrc Sea Whrle attending a Parrs fashion show we sawa very famrlrar face which was PHYLLIS GERKEN Phyl had become one of the best fashron desrgners rn Parrs After vrsrtrng trarts that rnterested us most was parnted by PAUL MOHR Paul was at this trme lectur ing on Amerrcan parntrngs Whrle rn Swrtzerland we saw PATRICIA ROTH mrlkrng the last of her 89 goats She had her husband Bob Vandemark are makrng therr lrvrng by exporting lrmburger cheese to the Unrted States After leavrng Swrtzerland we Journeyed on to Sparn where we notrced a man draw rng a team of mules Hrs vorce sounded very famrlrar When we spoke to hrm we found that rt was JIM HERR He was employed by the Trans Contrnental Freight Lrne Back rn the Unrted States we attended a crrcus at Atlanta Georgra To our amaze ment we found the ring master to be GENE WEBER Genre told us that part of hrs suc cess was due to hrs leadrng clown AMBORSE MANGAS The Weber Mangas Crrcus rs now one of the leadrng shows rn the world We also vrsrted the Mrss Amerrca Beauty Contest It was not surprrsrng to frnd one of the Judges to be NELSON HAHN He had made Judgrng beauty contests hrs hobby We traveled on to Kentucky to see BILL LLOYD and GENE ZINSER who had formed a partnershrp They bought a large tobacco plantatron When we arrrved we found Bill and Gene watchrng a televrsron campargn speech DON THIEROFF who was the cam pargner was runnrng for Ohio Senator On our way back to Washington we saw EARL OSBORN He had Just left hrs Kansas chrcken farm and was plannrng to enter hrs prrze chrckens rn the NatronalCh1cken Con test rn Chrcago Illrnors When we reported back for work we found the receptronrst to be LOIS THIEROFF Mrs Brrnk rnvrted us over to vrsrt her and Burdette The trrp was uneventful untrl we arrrved at Hong Kong Chrna where we found PAUL JOHNSON teachrng and preachrng to the Chrnese Berng a mrssronary Paul hadn t heard what our classmates were dorng He asked us what ROSE ZINSER had chosen for her career We told hrm she was now a professor at the Umversrty of Columbia Thus havrng predicted the future of the class of 53 we Phrl Strtes and Phyl Gerken shall wart to see how accurate our predrctrons are! 17 0 . , . .
