Head Coach; Nelson Gravatt Assistant Coach: Bob Murphy Sixty-six The 1969 Ayden High School football team began the season with a completely new coaching staff and except for a couple of reg- ulars, a completely different team from the ‘68 State Champions. The opponents included many of the top small high school teams in the East, presenting certainly one of the most difficult sched- ules faced by any Ayden team. Losing four games early in the season by a total of 10 points, our boys faced the embarassing possibiUty of becoming the first Ayden team in quite some time to have a losing record. Three hard fought wins at the end of the season prevented this disaster. Although our boys did not have a record equal to previous years, they kept their pride, never gave up, and did well against difficult odds.
