Lou¬ ise and Claude Hopkins,Aron Wilson, and Estelle McCul¬ loch WERE NEW STUDENTS OF THE CLASS. IN THE FALL,CLARA Belle Anderson moved away. Just before Christmas, two big events took place. Kathleen and Gloria Wilson JOINED us; AND WE WENT TO SEE TREASURE ISLAND”, A STORY WHICH WE HAD JUST FlNISED READING. MEXT SPRING, MISS Hughes was sick for 5 weeks, but a good substi tute»Mrs. Bragg, took her place. Just before school was out, we WENT ON A WEINER ROAST. iT BEGAN RAINING BEFORE WE GOT THERE, BUT NO ONE GOT VERY WET a In the ninth grade,we had Mr.Lathan as agriculture TEACHER, IN ADDITION TO THE SAME TEACHERS THAT WE HAD HAD THE YEAR BEFORE. WE HAD THE SAME STUDENTS,EXCEPT FOR A NEW MEMBER, I.J. WILSON. ABOUT CHRISTMAS, EDMUND COPPLE, WHO HAD BEEN GOING TO EFLAND FOR AROUND A YEAR CAME BACK TO JOIN THE GIRLS IN TAKING HISTORY, WHiLE THE OTHER BOYS TOOK AGRICULTURE. DURING THE WINTER THE DEEP SNOW DELAYED US FOR 2 WEEKS, BUT WE DIDN’T CARE. The next spring we went to V.F.W. Lake for our weiner ROAST AND FROM THERE TO BURLINGTON TO SEE THE SHOW. !t RAINED THAT NIGHT, AND ALMOST EVERYONE GOT WET»TH ROUGH THE STORM COVER WHICH HAD BEEN PULLED OVER THE TRUCK. The following summer, Mildred Grinstead decided that she couldn’t stand us any longer; hencf she married. As Juniors, we had the same teachers except for Miss Ward,our home room teacher,who took Mrs.Belue’s place. In October,Kathleen and Gloria left us and moved to Greensboro.
