Third row — Jimmy Wall, Frank Payne, R. A. Tavenner, Lynwood Riddle, Jimmy Martin. Although R. A. Tavenner’s baseball team was minus several of last year’s players and new inexperienced boys took the places of those graduated from the team, that did not keep them from trying their best to win. With two of the most reliable pitchers being gone, Mr. Tavenner found new talent to fill their places also. The members of the team with their playing ability and sportsmanship had a successful playing season.

Chapter is one of the oldest and best known organizations for boys in Axton. The organization was established for boys studying vocational agriculture who are planning to become future farmers. The boys in the F.F.A. have a wide varietv of activities. They have been the means of improving the school grounds and buildings. Only last fall they laid pipe and sewer lines for the new shop and agriculture building. They have, in the past, made many improvements to make our school a better one. However, there is not outdoor work all the time, for there is much information to be obtained pertaining to farm jobs. For example, there is forestry, dairy judging and public speaking contests to participate in. The new shop, which was completed in early 1950, offers unlimited opportunities for woodwork, welding, blacksmithing, etc. This is an organization that certaiAly is both highly educational and beneficial to all farm youth.
