This is a National Organization formed for students who possess the qualities of scholar- ship, leadership and citizenship. Since this is a service club, projects are in the making during the entire school year. The publishing of the Beta Data, College Day. and assist- ing the March of Dimes Fund are a few of the worthy pro- grams that have been completed this year. The sponsor, Mrs. Mary Lallerstedt works with the ofhcers to make the Beta Club an assets to the student body of our school. DEBATE TEAM The debate team is made up of people who are actively interested in debate. This year the teams are: Allirmativez John Craig and Susan Spaeder. Neg- ative: Margaret Colmer and Mickey Newbury. In the Atlanta Forensic League debates, Avondale tied for Hrst place, and in the 5th district debates, the affirmative won, while the negative lost. The debate team partici- pated in the Emory debates and also in the spring series of debates in the FOFSCHIC League The debate team IS sponsored by Mrs Potts QUILL AND SCROLL F: A' urll and Scroll IS a national honor society of hlgh school Journallsts To be a member one must be in the upper one third of his class and haxe made a valuable contribution to either the yearbook or the schools newspaper Mrs Calhoon sponsors the club 5?
