What impres- sions has Avon High left on you? What impres- sions have your teachers and underclassmen left on you? And how about your classmates? For that matter, what impressions have you left on all of these people? We can all recall the good times and the bad, but can we recall what all of these taught us? Was the bad really bad or the good really good? And were they right when they said, It ' s all for your own good? It ' s strange to think that we all claimed to know who were friends and why this was so, but did we really know? As the end of the year came rumbling toward us , did we not all become friends or was it just traditional? (Sentimen- tal??) Did it really matter what someone wore or what someone did? If not, why didn ' t we overlook these imperfections earlier? Weren ' t these just changing impressions? Yes, they were. By the end of our senior year we all looked at things differently. We had seen both sides. But when we left, we all left on one side. I They really do! I fed the t apacit y ro care is tlie thing which gives Sfe its deepest significance. ADMINISTRATION A. YaHooo NO PHOTO AVAILABLE DAVID WOOD THE CLASS OF ' 79 There have been many words and expressions used to describe this class, yet the most appropriate one would be open. No matter who or what you were, any member of this class would tell you exactly what they thought of you. In the past this class has been broken into many units. Still, it was very easy to jump from group to group. You weren ' t members until death - just until boredom. The class of ' 79 was a last minute class. — which was proven by our incurable lack of enthusiasm in some areas, yet ev- erything this class attempted was always somehow done. Usually by the time June rolls around the school is quite relieved to let the seniors go, and we are quite willing. For some of us it will be difficult to say good-bye to the many friends that we have made through the years, although the memories will always remain. Each person in the class of ' 79 has their own special something which has made our class as a whole, something special. REMEMBER THOSE MEMORIES by Shirley Brennan Remember the times we had together, Memories of the past that we ' ll treasure forever. All the memories we ' ll carry in our hearts, But it ' s getting towards the end for us to part. Do any of us realize what we ' ve got? Well let me tell you; it ' s a hell of a lot! Most of us are at the age of seventeen, And there ' s still a lot we haven ' t seen. There are so many ways for us to turn, And yet so much we all can learn. Where will we all go? Well, maybe when we get there we ' ll know. But life goes so fa st, So we all have to make everyday last . As we reach each new day, We ' ll still remember things our teachers used to say. We ' re in our last years of school. So we all have to stop being fools . Soon our years here will all be done, But we ' ll all still remember the fun. Some of us: Will settle down and get married, Some of us: Will still be harrassed and harried. But all in all it will never be the same, Because to us no longer will life be a game. Just remember the good times we all had, And with that none of us should ever be sad. At the end of this I wish you all the best of luck. And I hope you find a fast way to make a quick buck! This year has been fun for us all, Keep Your chins up and walk tall! Good Luck to the Class of 79 40 £.p 41 45 r Iti JUm WvM wu lJ mont, L. Ferrante, P. Sullivan, R. Hopkins, T. Grenham, W. It had gotten up to the deadline and it was time to go shopping. I thought I ' d go to Bloomingdale ' s to look at a Stromberg-Carlson hi- fi. This seemed a better place than Montgomery- Ward. But getting out was tough. The Clinton motor on the snow-blower was all Dunn, and Paine, Webber hadn ' t helped me in the market, so it meant shoveling, right down to the McCal- lum pavement. Shirley, I thought, there must be a faster way. A Fowler day you never saw- it was good the house had those Anderson windows . The weather was not doing mush for the mood and the Gospel according to St. Marc and the spirit of St. DiNic was fast disappearing. I made sure the St. Bernard could get into the Barkhouse-actually he Burrows into the snow-then went back inside, got my Stetson off the Peg, and climbed into the Hopkins -like Corvette, a neat brown color. The car had too much Power and the weather- you wishes it were June or that you could be in Santa Monica. A one horse open Shea would go bet- ter in snow than this. The McGrath and O ' Brien Highway was so Skerry that I nearly had a Recchia. Passing the Komada Inn, I stopped at MacDonald ' s, which was featuring Tortorellas with spaghetti sauce, a good meal on a rotten day. This rotten New England Klimas, I thought to myself! However, the trip was for charity, too, to get some toys for kids at the Fernald School. But the breezes off the St. Lawrence River made life awfully chilly. When I finally reached Bloomingdale ' s, the place was mobbed. I rolled down the window to shout at the garage attendant. A-Hoye, I shouted, Can I park here? He nodded yes, but here, Murphy ' s Law went into effect- if anything can go wrong, it will. I backed the car straight into a Lally column. What made it worse was that several for- mer students, George LeGrice and Bob Piekarski, happened along and laughed and pointed. Donna Nobis Requiem! They Wood be looking! Debbie DuBois was also with them and she was doubled over in laughter. But the Mall was fesitve and ready for Christmas. There was a jolly clown, a Buffoona, who later turned out to be a Kelly girl, rolicking in laughter and rolling around the main floor; on a raised platform a big blond billed as the Polish Princess was singing Christ- mans Carols with Bobby Vinton, this time O Kim All Ye Faithful. A genial Host was master of ceremonies for them. Business was brisk in all the shops: Lifrieri ' s Grass Seen Shop was mobbed, and there I saw David Martineau, Ka- ren Pulera, and some of their Pals Whiffen all that good stuff. There was a beautiful Christmas Rose in the store, all ready for the holiday. The toy store was fun; there was s stuffed Kamel, and a stuffed cow, just like the one that kicked over the lantern that Mrs. O ' Leary took to the shed, and a toy owl that cried Houhoulis, Houhoulis when you wound it up. There was a game where you had to get several marbles across a board with holes in it without any drop- ping through, and there I found Janet Flaherty Tibnam them back and forth. At the entrance to Filene ' s I found Bill Olsen Keseian Debbie Roycroft under the mistletoe; say, weren ' t they related, in that play? And Susan Jannette and Cathy Dunay were at the cosmetics counter, looking at Noonan ' s Hair Oil and Williams After-Shave, for their boyfriends for Christmas. In Barone ' s fur shop, Karen Cruikshank was trying on a Danielle Boone outfit. When the Billings came in for that, she ' d wonder if she should have bought it! Further along the Mall was a new Pontiac in the center, put there by Connolly Pontiac, and outside a drug- store, a new gadget for Wayne yourself. A travel agency invited you to come to a tennis camp run by the Dean of players, Arthur Ashe, to get ready for the Da- vis Cup. On this cold day, you ' d accept the invitation of the Champ to go! How- ever, time was passing, and it was time to go. Gathering all the stuff I had bought, I headed out the door for the parking garage. It was still a bitter, Breezy day-no day for a Lizard on a rock-and the snow was still coming down. As I stepped off the sidewalk, I hit a patch of Issa; Kyrie Eliason! I thought, and the last thing that happened before all my lights went out as I bashed my head, I looked up into the big brown eyes of Susan Goldstein, who smiled and said, Have a Nice Day! - C . If you think you ' ll lose, you ' ve lost, For out in the world you find Success begins with a fellow ' s will- It ' s all in the state of mind. If you think you ' re outclassed, you are; You ' ve got to think high to rise; You ' ve got to be sure of yourself before You can ever win the prize. Full many a race is lost Ere ever a step is run; And many a coward fails Ere ever his work ' s begun. Think big and your deeds will grow; Think small and you ' ll fall behind; Think that you can and you will- It ' s all in the state of mind. Life ' s battles don ' t always go To the stronger or faster man; But sooner or later the man who wins Is the fellow who thinks he can.
