I decided to sit back and read the paper since we wouldn ' t be arriving in London for about two hours. It seemed that the mission to Mars was proceeding smoothly The four man crew, consist- ing of Cmdr. Cordon McKinnon, Chief Engineer, Tom McIntyre, Navigator, Cindy McGrath (first woman to land on Mars), and Martian Excursion Module Cmdr. Eugene Anton, was reported ap- proaching their target on the Martian surface last night. Suddenly, my concentration was interrupted by laughing and giggling coming from a few seats behind me. I quickly turned around, and saw Doris Chapman, Paula Conley, Cail Barton, Mary Rogers, Rachel Ward, and Karen Stone singing the old tune, Up, Up, and Away, in unison. They were practicing for an Amateur Night Contest and were given a round of applause by the pas- sengers. I decided to take a stroll up back and pick up a cup of coffee, oanne Sciaraffa, of all people, was working in the galley. How are you, Joanne? Oh, as good as can be expected, I guess. Job got you down? No, actually it ' s got me up. Still the same old Joanne. Hey, have you seen the rest of the kids on board? Yeah, I ' ve seen a lot of kids from our class. Debbie Naas and Elizabeth Fehrm work back here with me. Really. I ' ve already seen all the stewardesses. By the way, can I have a cup of coffee? Sure, here you go. Thanks. Well, nice seeing you again. Going back to my seat, I tripped over a pocketbook in the aisle. Luckily, none of the coffee sp illed on the seat — or the passenger. I picked up the pocketbook, and handed it to the occu- pant, who was none other than Paula Isenberg. She said she was on the way to Southern Spain to visit her orange groves. As I stood up, I noticed two girls sleeping in the next seat. They were Candis Luz and Suzanne Stenstrom It was too bad they were sleeping, and I couldn ' t talk to them, because I was curious as to why the tickets on their laps said, Denmark . After returning to my seat, I began reading the paper again. The editorial page was really very interesting. It wasn ' t until I finished reading the story that I noticed who the editor was — none other than Angela Mavrogeorge, editor of our old school newspaper. Thumbing through the paper, the fashion page caught my eye. There, below the picture, was the familiar signature, by Cindy McDonnell. On the financial page I ran into another well-known name; that of lohn Markella. It was printed under an article entitled, Woolworth Investment Well Worth It, Flipping a few more pages, I came to the entertainment page. I noticed one ad in particular. It was the billing for a new act at the Sands in Las Vegas. It was a great success. Lori Daigle, Maureen Barrett, leanne Linder, and Debbie Tibnam were making a name for themselves! I was wondering show the Celtics had done in their last game, and as soon as I turned to the Sports Page, my question was answered, Celtics Topple 76er ' s . The Celtics ' one-two punch came through again. Karen Wilbur, the first professional woman basketball player, and Alvin Warner, their star center, combined for seventy-two points in the victory. The article made good reading, since it was written by the well-known sports writer, Linda Wass. Another headlin e read, Tim Flanigan Signs With Sox. It looks like Tim was doing well. He made the All-Star Team last year as starting second baseman. I guess there isn ' t too much of a need for medical aid on planes these days. When someone Denise Frieros was the first one, followed closely by Robin Clark with a bag full of instruments. Diane Baullum with bandages, and Ellen Shank with a gurney. In the event that the nurses couldn ' t handle the emergency, Debbie Haskins, veterinarian, rushed to the scene, also. According to the newlyweds sitting across from me, Gary Burnham and loan McMakin, the nurses were the private staff of Bill Rice It seems he ' s taken them with him wherever he goes, since his twenty-third car accident. I noticed a coffee stain on my pant leg, and decided I ' d better go to the men ' s room and wash it off. As I was walking to the back of the plane, someone called me. I turned around and saw Donna Singleton standing up waving. Our conversation was very brief, as we were both busy. I continued down the aisle, only to meet Linda Russell on her way to the galley for a cup of coffee. It seems she was flying to London, and then continuing on to Paris. This was her vacation, and she was going to make the most of it. In the bathroom, I met Bob Nelson. He owns a glass company now, and was on his way to Lon- don for a business meeting. Traveling with him was his private secretary, Pat Treloar He and Pat traveled all over the world together, and it seems they are very happy. I bid farewell to Bob, and upon approaching the exit, some writing above the handle of the door caught my eye. It read, Dan Crane Was Here. I seemed to remember that name, but couldn ' t associate a time or place with it. I found the way back to my seat and quickly made myself comfortable. I was only sitting for a few minutes when Ron Emma leaned over and said, Say have you seen Buddy on the plane? Buddy who? 9
