I decided to sit back and read the paper since we wouldn ' t be arriving in London for about two hours. It seemed that the mission to Mars was proceeding smoothly The four man crew, consist- ing of Cmdr. Cordon McKinnon, Chief Engineer, Tom McIntyre, Navigator, Cindy McGrath (first woman to land on Mars), and Martian Excursion Module Cmdr. Eugene Anton, was reported ap- proaching their target on the Martian surface last night. Suddenly, my concentration was interrupted by laughing and giggling coming from a few seats behind me. I quickly turned around, and saw Doris Chapman, Paula Conley, Cail Barton, Mary Rogers, Rachel Ward, and Karen Stone singing the old tune, Up, Up, and Away, in unison. They were practicing for an Amateur Night Contest and were given a round of applause by the pas- sengers. I decided to take a stroll up back and pick up a cup of coffee, oanne Sciaraffa, of all people, was working in the galley. How are you, Joanne? Oh, as good as can be expected, I guess. Job got you down? No, actually it ' s got me up. Still the same old Joanne. Hey, have you seen the rest of the kids on board? Yeah, I ' ve seen a lot of kids from our class. Debbie Naas and Elizabeth Fehrm work back here with me. Really. I ' ve already seen all the stewardesses. By the way, can I have a cup of coffee? Sure, here you go. Thanks. Well, nice seeing you again. Going back to my seat, I tripped over a pocketbook in the aisle. Luckily, none of the coffee sp illed on the seat — or the passenger. I picked up the pocketbook, and handed it to the occu- pant, who was none other than Paula Isenberg. She said she was on the way to Southern Spain to visit her orange groves. As I stood up, I noticed two girls sleeping in the next seat. They were Candis Luz and Suzanne Stenstrom It was too bad they were sleeping, and I couldn ' t talk to them, because I was curious as to why the tickets on their laps said, Denmark . After returning to my seat, I began reading the paper again. The editorial page was really very interesting. It wasn ' t until I finished reading the story that I noticed who the editor was — none other than Angela Mavrogeorge, editor of our old school newspaper. Thumbing through the paper, the fashion page caught my eye. There, below the picture, was the familiar signature, by Cindy McDonnell. On the financial page I ran into another well-known name; that of lohn Markella. It was printed under an article entitled, Woolworth Investment Well Worth It, Flipping a few more pages, I came to the entertainment page. I noticed one ad in particular. It was the billing for a new act at the Sands in Las Vegas. It was a great success. Lori Daigle, Maureen Barrett, leanne Linder, and Debbie Tibnam were making a name for themselves! I was wondering show the Celtics had done in their last game, and as soon as I turned to the Sports Page, my question was answered, Celtics Topple 76er ' s . The Celtics ' one-two punch came through again. Karen Wilbur, the first professional woman basketball player, and Alvin Warner, their star center, combined for seventy-two points in the victory. The article made good reading, since it was written by the well-known sports writer, Linda Wass. Another headlin e read, Tim Flanigan Signs With Sox. It looks like Tim was doing well. He made the All-Star Team last year as starting second baseman. I guess there isn ' t too much of a need for medical aid on planes these days. When someone Denise Frieros was the first one, followed closely by Robin Clark with a bag full of instruments. Diane Baullum with bandages, and Ellen Shank with a gurney. In the event that the nurses couldn ' t handle the emergency, Debbie Haskins, veterinarian, rushed to the scene, also. According to the newlyweds sitting across from me, Gary Burnham and loan McMakin, the nurses were the private staff of Bill Rice It seems he ' s taken them with him wherever he goes, since his twenty-third car accident. I noticed a coffee stain on my pant leg, and decided I ' d better go to the men ' s room and wash it off. As I was walking to the back of the plane, someone called me. I turned around and saw Donna Singleton standing up waving. Our conversation was very brief, as we were both busy. I continued down the aisle, only to meet Linda Russell on her way to the galley for a cup of coffee. It seems she was flying to London, and then continuing on to Paris. This was her vacation, and she was going to make the most of it. In the bathroom, I met Bob Nelson. He owns a glass company now, and was on his way to Lon- don for a business meeting. Traveling with him was his private secretary, Pat Treloar He and Pat traveled all over the world together, and it seems they are very happy. I bid farewell to Bob, and upon approaching the exit, some writing above the handle of the door caught my eye. It read, Dan Crane Was Here. I seemed to remember that name, but couldn ' t associate a time or place with it. I found the way back to my seat and quickly made myself comfortable. I was only sitting for a few minutes when Ron Emma leaned over and said, Say have you seen Buddy on the plane? Buddy who? 9

CLASS PROPHECY Youth is a fast gallop over a smooth track to the bright horizon the time of great expectations for yourself and expectations of others for you — to be fulfilled at an unspecified time called someday. As I jumped into the cab, a feeling of nostalgia came over me Where to, buddy? ' ' grumbled the driver. The familiar voice was that of Marty Connolly. Marty! I exclaimed. What are you going driving a cab? ' ' Oh, this is only a part time job. At night I ' m an usher at the Strand. I said good-bye to him when we arrived at the airport, only to be met by porter, Charlie lesus. After talking for a few minutes, I told him it was a shame he ' d left the Seminary Then I tipped him and said so long. Having reached the Trans World Airlines Reservation Booth, I purchased a ticket to London. To my surprise, the ticket agent turned out to be Debby Swanson She was very busy soliciting ads, so she didn ' t have much time to talk. My flight wasn ' t departing for another fifteen minutes, so I went to the Currency Exchange Booth to change my money into pounds. There, standing behind the window, was Stu Rubin After exchanging my money, he tried to sell me a 1783 silver dollar, but I declined his generous offer Suddenly, there was a great commotion in the lobby. It seemed that a little old lady had fallen down. Rushing to the scene was well-known doctor, Cary Bradwin. The announcement of my flight was made over the P.A. system, and I recognized the unmistak- able voice of lohn Amaral I started up the ramp to Gate-C. Cary Quimby, famous racing car driv- er, and his female mechanic, Maureen Kelley, having disembarked from the inbound flight, were making their way down the ramp. How ' s the racing business, Gary? Pretty slow. Once I ' d arrived at the top of the ramp, I decided to buy a paper to catch up on some of the current news. When I got to the stand, I noticed a familiar face between the Boston Globe and the New York Times It was Rich Hazelton, the eccentric newspaper tycoon. As I turned from the stand, I tripped and fell flat on my face. Only after picking myself up did I realize what had happened I ' d tripped over a group of protestors, all of whom I knew Bob Mc- Manus, Paul DiBattista, Tim Miller, Paul Krebs, and C ail Brown. It seems that they were up in arms against the air pollution caused by jets. I gave them a faint wave of recognition, turned abruptly, and immediately ran into David Roche, who was just arriving from New Brunswick, I had no time to stop and chat with him, so I simply said, Hi, Dave. Nice meeting you, and continued on my way. I | u st made it to the gate in time to have my passport checked. I handed it to a girl who I immediately recognized as Susan Welch, and after a few seconds, I was once again on my way. Passing through the gate, I was pushed aside by a group of reporters huddled around opera star, Teresa Pelaggi Then, I ran into another group. This time, the center of attraction was Pat Bows, U.S. Ambassador to Tibet. By this time, I was close enough to the plane to see a figure hanging over the wing, fixing a landing light It turned out to be loe Berg. He was being heckled by fellow workers. Bill Bettuchi, Leo Gillan, and Hank Strafello, who were all finishing loading the baggage onto the plane. Billy Orr was throwing light bulbs at him Further down the runway, I could see the famous playboy, Keith Tebbetts, alighting from his private jet. As I began up the boarding ramp, a group of teachers, returning from a European tour, were coming down. I remembered all of them: loyce Fischer, Debbie Saunders, Andrea Silvia, Ann Fitzsimmons, and Debbie Geary Finally entering the plane, I was greeted by six charming stewardesses. To my surprise they were Dottie Finn, lanice Hawes, Marilyn Geary, loanne Sweeney, Judy Hyson, and Linda Turner. They were very pleased to see me, and after a brief chat about old times, they seated me in the first class section of the mammoth Boeing 1078 Supersonic Transport let. As I fastened my seatbelt, I noticed two familiar figures seated beside me; Ron Emma and Ed Sarni How are you, Ron? Oh, pretty good. I ' m on the way to the grand opening of my newest Hamburger Palace. I have a chain of 150 of them now. And how about you, Ed? Well, I just bought out Terry Edwards, and I ' m on the way to order my new SS-454. lust then, a voice came over the intercom: Good afternoon, Ladies and Gentlemen. This is your Captain, Dan Bilezikian We will be departing momentarily, so please fasten your seatbelts. We will be traveling at an altitude of 75,000 feet. Our cruising speed will be 1400 knots. I hope you enjoy your flight. Soon, we began to taxi down the runway, and I setted down to watch the inflight movie. It turned out to be a flick starring Sue McCabe and Paul Raleigh, co-starring Pat MacKenzie and Mar- ianne Welch. After the movie, the stewardesses came around selling a new soundtrack. It was played by Scot Cannon ' s new group, with Scot on lead guitar, Pat Delaney on Bass guitar, and Rosemary Minnehan on drums.
