Mr. Koppenhafer. eoaehz Philip Schmitz, manager. U The Avon Eagles deserve praise for the well-fought games they played this season. Although the chances of a ehampionship were small, the hoys always put forth great effort to win and displayed good sportsmanship to the finish. Under the patient coaching ol' Mr. Knppenhafer, the hoys showed definite improvement as the season progressed. The team lought every hattle wholefheartedly and tried to win. which alter all is playing the l.IEllIHI.N Next year's team will keenly feel the loss of the seasoned letterinen: Bernie Klingshirn, Mouse Hummer, Pro Conrad, and Darwin Bliss. The Reserves have earned an honorahle mention for their conspicuous development in the art of handling a haslcethall. The team improved with every practice and each contest saw them gaining in skill. The school has great hopes lor the coming season with these players coming into their stride. Special mention should he made ol' the ever-faithful support given hy the cheerleaders and the students who yelled heartily to encourage the teams, no matter what the seore was. Tlurlvfliour

The junior high haskethall has faced two particular prohlems this year, First. they have had In overcome the advantage ol' much greater height which most other teams in the league have over them, Secondly, they lacked the experience which would make them smooth players. Most meinhers ol' this team were seventh graders who had no knowledge ol' the game at all and had never had any opportunity to play it. The team did not have a very successful season, as far as the numher of wins and losses are concerned: hut the strides they made in learning to play the game and manipulating the hall were remarkahle, Mr, Mass, who coached the team, said that the improvement in their play- ing is unhelievahle. These fellows will show the effects of their junior high experience when they eventually get their chance to play on varsity or reserves. The hoys practised early every morning hefore school f-when most hoys were still in hed. Most ol the practice sessions were spent in learning fundamentals. Don Bayley. the captain. was outstanding for his ahility to drive the hall. Don Peak was a good calm defensive man when the game got close. Vactor Coleman and Dukie Reed were hoth quick with the legfwork and seemed to he everywhere at once. jim Bayley was a good ollense man, and featured a surprise lelbhanded shot. Charles Maurer was ahle to play all position- with ease, Taddy Smith and Gihhy Forthofer hecame adept at handling the hall. TilIffj SIX
