He had been with our school for twenty-four years in which many improve - ments have been brought about. We hated to see him go but to lighten our sorrows a very capable member of our faculty, Mr. Everett Paschen, was selected to fulfill the duties as principal. Wholesale Grocers Tobacco -- Candy Kendallville, Indiana 11 CLASS PROPHECY Come with me and we will go into the future. Let ' s stop about 1962. There I think I see some of our classmates now. Why, there ' s Ellenjane Ritter, who got her start as president of the senior class has made herself famous as being the first lady president of the United States. She is be- ginning to look a little old and tired so maybe the vice-president who is Paul DeHoff will have to take over the job. Oh, yes I forgot to mention, Esther Loe, who was office girl for Mr. Paschen is the Secretary of State. As a sideline she is the National Twirling Champion. Barbara Blotkamp has made her debut in television to take the place of Dagmar. Sandra Schauweker has finally decided to give up her career as a buyer for Bender ' s Stock Farm and settle down to being the boss ' s wife, who by the way is a former class- mate of ours, Ralfii Bender. Louise Anderson finally got married to that man of hers. Norma Renkenberger and Keith Thomas are married now and live in a swank apartment on Fifth Avenue. Can you imagine that? Lorene Genda, Marcia Mueller, Rosalyn Miller, and Edith Uhl all belong to that famous band of Cliff Teders ' . They all got their start in high school. The name of the band is Teder ' s Terrors. Tom Whonsetler, Bob Abel, Dick Ross, and Dick Whan are playing professional bas- ketball. They also, got their start in high school. Oh, I forgot to mention they ' re play- ing for the Avilla Villians, a team that has just started recently. Sally Schlotterer, Jackie Stabe, and Barbara Duehmig are starting an exclusive dress shop in New York City. It is to be called We-Squeeze-U-In. June and Evelyd Freeman have opened a law firm in Boston and are doing very well for themselves. The law firm of Freeman and Freeman is very well known throughout the world. They are the first women lawyers. They are considering another member for their firm. It is Freida Leitch, a former classmate of theirs. Joe Whonsetler is a famous banker on Wall Street. He is being investigated for for- ging too many checks by Eldon Hile, who is the head of the Federal Bureau of Investi- gation. Beverly Worman, Ann Christensen and Uvonna Campbell, who couldn ' t be separated while they were in high school are living in a home together as old maids. Daisy Owen, who has been living with them, is president of the Maiden Ladies of America Associa- tion but she decided to give that job up to get married. Janet Pierce and Delia Davis are riding bareback horses for the Ringling Bros, circus. They are always at home in Avilla during the vrtnter. Jack Yarian was recently sent to Alcatraz for a five year sentence for making counter- feit dollar bills. One would never have thought that of him. Jean Ott and Monica Debes are doing bubble dances in the Stork Club.. The ovmers of the Club are Walter Kem, David Klopfenstein and Francis Fischer. Time will only tell if these things are the truth. CITY DAIRY Kendallville, Indiana 12 CLASS HISTORY It was a bright and sunny morning when forty-six freshmen entered Avilla High School in ' 49. We were really scared as all freshmen are supposed to be. After we were here a few days we knew what it was like to be freshmen. After we all became acquainted we elected our class officers. They were: president, Ralph Bender; vice-president, Bob Abel; secretary, Norma Renkenberger; treasurer, Sandra Schauweker. Our sponsor was Mr. Diffenbaugh. We had two class parties this year. One was a weiner roast and a scavenger hunt at the park and the last semester we ate our supper at the schoolhouse and then went to the show at Garrett. Then our sophomore year and this year we lost Margaret Coil, Charlie DeLong, De- loris Fischer and Lee Owen. This left us with forty to start the year out right. This year even though we lost four of our members, we had to have two sponsors. I guess we were too wild. They were Miss Stevens and Mr. Henley. We elected Paul DeHoff, president; Bob Abel, vice-president; Martha Myers, secretary and Lorene Genda, treasurer. This year we again had two parties, one was a party at the schoolhouse and then we saw a show afterwards and Barbara Blotkamp invited us out to her house for the other one. We ordered our class sweaters this year. They were a firey red with black letters and nu- merals. Our Jiuiior year we had more to do than any year yet. In the mad rush we lost Phyl- lis Decker, Gloria Lehman, Martha Myers and Alice Teders. This year our sponsor was Mrs. Sisson. Our officers were president, Paul DeHoff; vice-president, Ellenjane Ritter; secretary, Ralph Bender and treasurer Rosalyn Miller. Early in the school year we order- ed our class rings and received them about the last part of November. We chose our classflowertobean American Beauty rose. To make money we sold candy during noon hour and at all home ballgames. We also sold magazines and Christmas cards. For one of our parties we sponsored a skating party and for the other one a St. Patrick ' s Day, dance which we hope will become an annual affair here at school. Our motto was With the ropes of the past, we ring the bells of the future. At last we were where we wanted to be when we started high school. We were sen- iors! Mrs. Sisson was again our standby as our sponsor. Our class officers were Ellen- jane Ritter, president; Paul DeHoff, vice-president; Sandra Schauweker, secretary; Nor- ma Renkenberger, treasurer. On October 10 we went to Robert ' s Studio in Fort Wayne where our senior pictures were taken. We received them about Dec. 14. Our senior play, Me and My Shadow was presented on the 18th and 19th of October. Our first party was a party here at the schoolhouse with a treasure hunt combined. We ordered name cards and our commencement announcements. On April 29th, the PTA had a supper to honor the seniors. We gained Freida Leitch this year as a member of our class. On the tenth of May the Class of 1952 started for Washington, D. C, where we stay- ed a few days and then went to New York City and then on to Niagara Falls and into Canada from where we came home. At last the two long awaited days have come. On May 18, Baccalaureate Service and on May 20, we don our blue and white caps and gowns for our commencement.
