We walloped Huntertownll Hot lunches started. 11-12-13 Tourney time at Albion. What happened to Avilla??? Ask Cromwell! Debated North Side at Avilla. They came out even. All right, next! Don ' t mind, they ' re just getting their pictures taken for the annual. Ball game tonight. Butler is just another victim. Ping pong wizards went to Albion and showed their ability by taking seven out of seven matches. Jan. 26 Ball game between Avilla and LaGrange. Shucks! we got beat! Feb. 1 Red Southern, sports writer for the Chicago Cubs, gave a pep talk to the student assembly today. We did it again!! 1 mean we walloped Huntertown. P. T. A. meeting. Yip! Yip! Yippee! Avilla beat Leo, the Allen County Champs! We played Wawaka tonight. They had a score of 50-33. The home economics girls served the Lions Club. Avilla won the district debate tourney at Fremont. Nice going! Gone With the Wind is at the theater this week. Ball game between Garrett and Avilla. Don ' t tell anybody we got beat. Feb. 24 Alice Call and Ruth Wilson participated in the county Latin contest. Mar. 1-2 Tourney time at K ' ville. The Avilla boys gave K ' ville all they could take even though they lost 32-34. Mar. 5 P. T. A. meeting. Mar. 6 Debate tourney at North Manchester. Avilla lost their chance to compete in the state finals. Mar. 6 Another one of those wild nights skating at the Rome City skating rink, sponsored by the F. F. A. boys. Mar. 12 Sophomores ponder over their class rings. Mar. 14 Inter-class tourney and faculty game. Mar. 15 Last day for annual work. What a flutter!! Mar. 18 Imagine!! All senior play cast had their parts by memory. Mar. 22 Four more weeks to go. Good Friday. Mar. 24 Easter. Weren ' t the Easter bonnets pretty!!! Mar. 27 Senior dress rehearsal. My, how we look!! Mar. 28-29 Senior class play. Mar. 30 The solo and ensemble contest held at Berne. April 1 April fool!! April 2 P. T. A. entertains seniors at 6:00 dinner. April 5 Algebra contest. April 8 Monday morning. Imagine all seniors being present! April 9 Senior observation trip. April 1 1 Senior class day. The seniors are privileged characters now. April 14 Baccalaureate. April 15 The junior and senior girls are visiting the beauty parlor. April 16 Junior and senior banquet. Thanks, juniors. April 17 Mr. Forney Avore a new yellow and red tie. April 18 The time is growing nearer. April 19 Examinations. Aren ' t we seniors glad! Those poor underclassmen! We feel for you but we can ' t reach you. April 20 Band contest. Aug. Sept. 31 5 Sept. Sept. Sept. 8 12 13 Sept. Sept. 14 13- Sept. Sept. 29 29 DEAR DIARY Organization day. First day. Same old school, same old gang, and am 1 ever glad to be back! Baseball game with Albion. Avilla came out on the short end. Baseball game with Wolf Lake. Avilla won. Mrs. Ringle of Muncie visited the Home Economics Department and expressed herself favorably impressed with the additions and alter- ations. Congratulations, A. H. S. 1 1 ! A baseball game with Cromwell. We lost, but why? -16 Classes were organized and sponsors chosen. Parks heads seniors. A game with Rome City. We lost again. Avilla won second game of the season by defeating Ligonier. We went traveling into Africa with two African missionaries who visited our school today. It surely was interesting but I think I ' ll stay in old U. S. A. Company today. Lewis Black from Ligonier demonstrated, to the student assembly the poison contained in one cigarette. (That poor little bird!) More company. Mr. Beckam, a representative of the Chicago Motor Club addressed the student assembly and then demonstrated his Dual Control Automobile to the seniors. Oct. 3 P. T. A. meeting. Oct. 3 We won the last baseball game of the season at Wawaka. Oct. 5 The band aftended the Matinee Music Club at Kendallville in the afternoon and in the evening marched (how far) at the DeKolb County Fair. Oct. 9 Faculty downed F. F. A. in a baseball game 7-4. Oct. 1 1 A picture show was presented today by Fire Marshal Chief C, H. Joyce and Chief George H. Kihm. Oct. 13 Those dear little freshies were welcomed into A. H. S. by the upper- classmen today. Oh, well, they ' ll learn. Oct. 1 4 Avilla chapter F. F. A. corn husking contest held. Blotkamp champion. Oct. 21 You ' re wondering what is the matter with everyone today??? Oh, nothing much; they were just trying out their skill on roller skates last night at the roller skating party at R. C. Oct. 21 Gwendolyn Southern elected new yell leader. By the looks of things we should have some high class yel ling. Oct. 24-25 Oh, happy day! Two whole free days for play. The teachers, poor dears, at Institute. Oct. 25 An added dignity was given the seniors today for they received their maroon and gold class sweaters. Oct. 30 Why are the seniors so jittery??? Don ' t you know? They are going to get their pictures taken. A basketball game at Wolf Lake. Hurrah for Avilla!!! Ball game with Salem Center. First home game. P. T. A. Armistice program in the auditorium. Ball game here versus Ligonier. Our favor. Band supper. Poor chickens had to become new horns. Ball game at Albion. Our favor. First corner conference. The band accompanied the team to Albion where they did formation marching. 24 Thanksgiving vacation with turkey and cranberries. Ball game at Leo. (Don ' t talk about it.) Ball game at Waterloo; their favor. But the worm does turn. Ball game with Wolcottville. We won and how! Ball game with Rome City. (Atta old fight.) Junior play. (All ' s well that ends well.) What ' s all the rush about?? Oh! The seniors got their namecards. P. T. A. Chorus sang. Seniors ' first taste of annual work. It ' s going to be bigger and better than ever!!!
