Orientation activities thrilled, frightened, and initiated students to their first of four years at Averett. Undergraduates succumbed to helpless hysteria as Grady Nutt proved that his humor was as unique as his name. Grady Nutt, who left the ministry in 1969 to become a full-time entertainer, was discovered by Ralph Edwards and Mike Douglas. Nutt's appeal stems from his ability to present everyday life with emphasis placed on the funny little things that keep one's blood pressure from tinting one's hair.
