HARRY REILLY, Superintendent Space Age Demands Leadership Man is eternally motivated by tlie desire to protect the gift of life, prolong it and improve the environmental factors that play upon it. The space age, which is also known as the era of action, has emphasized improvement of en- vironmental conditions to the point that is ad- vancing society at a supersonic rate. The improvement of society at such a rapid rate has society and particularly the leaders. This rate of advancement depends directly upon the speed at which this society is able to produce capable leaders. As the demands increase, the rewards increase, both mater- ially and emotionally. May you accept the challenge to develop and perfect those qualities of integrity, responsibility, emotional stability, empathy, enthusiasm and gentility. These qualities combined with an abundance of energy and good sound judgement will enable you to become a leader and make your contribution to the rapid progress of society. This progress cannot and will not con- tinue without competent leadership. Best wishes to you in the future and may you find afresh each day the force, the inspiration and passion of leadership. We Dedicate This Annual ' Zsc 7 The recipient of the La Neva ' s dedication is honored by the Seniors as being the person to whom they wish to give a great tribute. In their minds this person illustrates the integrity, sportsmanship, perseverance, respect, and friendship that they admire. This year the Senior class has chosen a teacher respected for his teaching ability and fairness, liked by both the faculty and student body for his friendly manner, and admired for his coaching ability. Besides teaching algebra, he has coached the basketball and baseball teams; he has helped students learn and athletes strive for victory with the best of their ability, thus promoting high ideals in both education and sportsmanship. Through his efforts many students have learned that constant struggling is needed to achieve quality in anything they attempt. These efforts, combmed with the example he himself is, have gained him the esteem of the entire stu- dent body. Therefore, in view of his valuable contributions of teaching and sportsmanship to Avenal High School, we are proud to dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Frank Ross.

By its care- fully planned program we, the stu- dents, derive the utmost benefits from our education. The culmina- tion of this school year again will be the take-off of another graduating class, and without the efforts of our administration, this smooth take-off would not have come into being.
