Presenting La Neva ' 64 Time is an inevitability in man ' s life; yet it is not time alone that fashions the path of destiny. Courage, faith, perseverance, fortitude, strength, and the desire for freedom have combmed to form what is now the United States of America. Our nation represents the challenge and courage of the colonists of Massachusetts and Plymouth; the fearless leadership exempli- fied in the Continental Congress; the bitter, relentless strug- gle for democracy in the Revolutionary War; the pushing, rushing explosion of an expanding nation; the birth of a new era of trade and modernization in the Industrial Revolution; the blood of men who fought in world wars for what they believed to be a cause of humanity; the ideas, innermost . thoughts, and artistic culture of great authors, humani- | tarians, and artists; and the pushing drive of a people working for a powerful, yet peaceful, nation. Much, how- ever, remains to be accomplished, for time and infinity represent new worlds to be conquered. Man ' s horizon now stretches from the earth to the stars. With the discoveries of space, time flies by more rapidly than ever before as man strives to master the unknown. Encouraged by successful human orbits, the fabulous Telstar, and dynamic experiments to go to the moon, the United States attempts to conquer space through peaceful co-existence. It is a whole nation which must conquer a new dimension, and a nation is only as good as its citizens. As our grad- uates prepare for their tasks in Ufe in this changing world, we hope that they will always see a new, shining horizon before them that is their ultimate goal inlife-a horizon that each year will become more accessible and desirable.
