THE MARCH UF TIME Our class first entered the portals of learn- ing in September, 1931. We see Veronica Anderson busily chewing her hair, also Mil- dred Grubiss vainly crying, l want to go homel ln second grade Sally Iones, the glamour girl, had a love affair with Iohn Leash. In third grade Mary Woodside suddenly had violently red hair. This was indeed a shock to her fellow classmates. In fourth grade we see Donald Kotouc chased by three brunettes and a blonde. The following year, fifth grade, nobody wanted to play King and Queen with Birdie's-Nest Hood! That eraser would never fall offl I During the sixth grade the class was put through the paces of choral speaking by Mrs. Verschoor. Many experiences are brought to mind that are better forgotten. In 1937 the Senior Class of '43 made its debut into the realm of higher learning- Iunior High. Various incidents of those two years stand out in our memory. One of our deepest impressions was made by Charles Foster, when, before the whole Iunior High and his father, he remarked quite calmly to Betty Nelson, With the turkey to look at and you to eat! Then too, we never will forget Mr. Keller and his art classes. Our class suffered a severe shock when Charles Dittoe, the spark-plug of the class, moved to Columbus and took with him his shank's ponies and Grandfather's Beard. Our career in high school began in a deep fog. Persons and events are hard to distin- guish until late spring when a Weiner roast held by Mary Woodside became quite prominent. Weren't we silly though? In our Sophomore year our class went wild, what with skating parties every two weeks land remember the fun we had at the New Year's Eve Iamboree?l and Richard Volpe's Hallowe'en party which later became an annual event. In our Iunior year we had almost as much fun preparing for the Prom as we had at it. Wasn't it strange how many new friendships came into view at that time? Words can't express how much our first formal dance thrilled us. Then came our Senior year. During the year our emotions varied in color from bright red to deep blue. Many of our girls sported engagement rings and many of our boys went into the armed forces or defense plants. We also had the distinction of class A rating on our Tattle-Tale very early in the year. We approach Commencement with mixed feelings. We may never see many of our classmates again, for we know not what fate has in store for usp but, we are wishing each other and all our school friends-both faculty and students-the best possible luck in the future. -Eileen Smith Mildred Grubiss
