FASHION ON PARADE Lovely models scored a different kind of vic- tory on the stage in Rockwood Hall, December l6, while displaying their finery in the College Club's Semi'Annual Style Show. This success' ful show and the Mother's Tea served in the Civic room later, was under the direction of Gerry Harris, president, and the two advisers, Mrs. Constantinides and Miss lohnstone. HNGLE BELLS Charitable enterprise Austin students under- take annually is spreading Christmas Cheer by filling boxes with goodies for the old men at Gak Forest. Miss Rylander again presided over this undertaking. Gver l,UUO boxes were filled and sent to bring a little joy to those who other- wise might not even know that old St. Nicholas was due to come down the chimneys. MlSTLETOE Austin students knew it was time for turkey, mistletoe, evergreen trees, and bright-colored lights. Exhilarating was the thought that for two weeks they would be free from everything but Paar- Twenty gaiety, excitement, and lightheartedness with a general Christmas Spirit prevailing. SKY HlGH Everyone felt tops after Christmas vacation, but no one else reached the scholastic heights that Saul Levin, the highest rating student in the class of '37V2, attained. His grade average ac- cording to the figures of Mrs. Clark, registrar, was 3.94 out of a possible perfect score of 4.00. MUSIC The Boys' Concert Band and Boys' Military Band presented their sixteenth semi-annual evening concert before a capacity crowd of rnu- sic minded students, relatives, and friends. The band, conducted by Captain Gish, furnished entertainment ranging from Star Dust to Tschaikovsky's Fourth Symphony in F Minor. Special features included in the program: Harp solo by Florence Lambert, cornet trioe--William Bearnish, Edward Christophersen, and Robert Hansen: sousaphone solo by Harry Timm, and a flute duet by Glen Stangeland and Vincent lones. BlG CAPPLED NIGHT Time marches on! The end of the semester and there was found on the evening of lanuary 21 an enthusiastic crowd of graduates dancing to the music of lack Chapman in the Grand Ball- room of the Drake Hotel. The occasion: the senior prom of '371fi, a high light and a long planned for evening in the four years of every high school student.

This was the largest football crowd of the l938 season and the largest crowd ever to witness a high school football game. Among the cheering fans was Mayor Kelly enjoying the game, the proceeds of which went to his Christmas Fund for needy chil- dren. HEADLINES Maroons clinch titlefDe Correvont tames Lion f-425,000 watch Austin win-'Austin High conquers Biggest IQ37 football crowd watches West Siders winf Wild Bill De Correvont sets all-time record eTouchdown in every game. VISITORS Other high lights of the school year: Little Theatre's presentation cf four players from the gay comedy and New York stage hit Brother Bat and the visit cf the Greek ambassador, His Excellency Dr. Demetrios Sicilianos to the Greek students of Austin. ANOTHER APPOMATTOX Battling to raise the Northern banners lowered in the Memphis game of 1936, a new civil war was fought on the gridiron at Memphis, Tennes- see on December IO. STUDENT GOVERNMENT l 1 STUDENT VOTING IANUARY 26 eCLASS DAY Seniors again! They seem wholly to dominate the school the last few days of the semester. Class Day had as its chief highlight a carefully planned luncheon, in addition to a student ar- ranged program in Rockwood Hall, and a dance in the Boys' gym. POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE As everything grand must come to an end, the class of '37 V2 in the subdued gait customary for a graduation procession, garbed in the very proper caps and gowns, climaxed four years of school life on Friday evening, lanuary 28, in impressive commencement exercises in Rock- wood Hall. Honor student speaker was Saul Levin. loseph Benson, class president, pre- sented the class gift, a check for improvements in Rockwood Hall, which was received by Bob Cowan, junior president, on behalf of the school.
