This picture, taken in 1930, shows our campus in the good old days. In 1943 a new wing was added at the far left. When the time came for the construction to begin, the Austin High School band marched up and played while the steam shovels dug. The old cars in the picture were never damaged be- cause the ROTC department had a guard marching up and down the campus every period. In 1930 there were 1588 students attending Austin and they were so crowded that the speech class met in the boiler room! These facts show the change that has come to our school over the past thirty years. Bishop Hall To excell in any given thing, it is imperative that one should use his better judgment in choosing his activities. The key to success is moderation, as expressed in our quotation. Outstanding participation in limited activities is better by far than mere membership in clubs. One must definitely use moderation in deciding whether to take an active part in publications, sports activities, R.O.T.C., student council or the numerous oth- er extra-curricular organizations.
