JAMES OLIVER GRADY Jimmy Grady, class of '55, was a lover of all sports-baseball, football, hunting, and fishing. Jimmy also took an active interest in A Choir, he had a lead part in the Choir's big production, the Mikado. As we shared his work and fun in all school activities, so shall we always remember his friendliness and good humor. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul, He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies, Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. 6

The concentration of the physics class is shattered as five bells ring. Even before the last bell is silent, two boys and a girl can be seen disappearing out the back door. Down the hall they run, gallop down the stairs, and skid to a stop in front of the nurse's office. Mrs. Purdue joins the rescuers who arrive from all directions, and the group hurries to the scene of the accident with first aid equipment. The students serving Austin in the capa- city of a first aid corps are members of the SSS Club, 'LSee, Save, Serve , and GFAC, Girls First Aid Corps , the only organiza- tions of their kind in the country. Mrs. Purdue was the person responsible for organizing these groups. She founded SSS in 1937, and seeing a need for a like organization for girls, she organized the GFAC in 194-0, It is in grateful appreciation of the role which she has played as Austin's nurse and her countless contributions to the school's welfare that the Round L'p Staff dedicates its silver anniversary yearbook to one who has given freely of her time and effort, Mrs. Martha Purdue. Xfter spending the day looking at student's throats, checking files, and supervising the work of her or- gunizations, Mrs. Purdue enjoys ai quiet evening at home with her husband, MW ' Z 'is 'ni J ,Htl :re inf- 1 fa XVith the help of her club presidents, Mrs. Purdue checks the physical exam' inations of Austin High School students. At home Mrs, Purdue has a rlmnee to mix something besides her usual reripe of water and bicarbonate of soda. 7
