History of the January Class of 1936 Now that the January Class of l936 has reached its iinal days in Austin High School, the members are looking back upon those past years with pleasure in the achievements and pleasant associations of those years. 'lihey are thinking with regret of the breaking of those associations when they shall leave their high school days behind them to start out anew upon other paths in life. VVhen, four years ago, this class entered Austin High School as eager, but timid Freshmen, the class expected to accomplish much. Nlany members of the class realized those expectations. They passed through the trying Freshman year with credit to themselves and to those guides who had piloted them so patiently over the rough spots of that tirst year. During the following years this class was repre- sented by outstanding members on the football team, and in forensic contests, and other school activities. Now that the members of this class have reached their Senior year and have arrived at that one big day when they can disport themselves as children again, they decide to be tramps for a day. Patches i and tin cans reign supreme. The Senior play of the January Class of 1936, under the able direction ot' Nlrs. Stark, was outstanding in the quality of acting and costumes. The play, being an Old English classic, was the best play ever presented by a class of Austin High School. And now as we start anew, whether it should be to enter upon some other phase of education, or whatever our fixture may be, it is with the knowledge that the four years just past will have better fitted us to meet the future. lt is with this thought that the January Class of l9'S6 bids farewell to Austin High School.
