Student life reveals a tempo that is con- stantly Huctuating. The rhythm moves lightly as does the carefree life of a student in high school. This lively movement can be appropriately described by the musical term allegra, meaning quick, happy, or briskf, This tempo reflects the lighter side of school life in contrast to the more serious side of learning. It has been sustained by the constant energy displayed by the stu- dents. As loyal supporters we have felt the excitement of competition-the sudden acceleration of tempo as we anxiously awaited the announcements of our choice of oflicers and outstanding personalities. Becoming a part of the school, we have participated in various activities: dances, parties, pep rallies, campaigns for leaders, which enhanced the lively rhythmic beat to which every student responded. All these bound together in one year in a ceaseless movement have created an en- thusiastic mood and light-hearted rhythm- . a mood and rhythm that will linger forever as long as there are students at Austin High School. PUCK, played by Bryan Reddick, presents Kathleen Klint with a loving cup desig- nating her as Austin High's most beauti- ful girl at the Sixteenth Annual Maroon Beauty Revue.

A WORD OF WELCOME is given by Janelle Greenwood as she addresses the sophomore class during orientation. .-S' Guinea Summer ended with a bang this year as more than two thousand sophomores, juniors, and sen- iors poured into the classrooms of Austin High. In the wee hours of the morning for several weeks before school, Red Jackets could be seen marching across the grassy football Held, and cheerleaders could be heard practicing new yells. Excited sophomores attended orientation and spent endless hours Hlling out cards. Once again familiar faces were seen in the arcade before school as students hurried to new advisories. Busily on their way to a new year of activities were the two teams of Joe Latting and Bev jones and David Hoffman and Babs Watts, who ran for Student Council president and vice-president during the first few weeks of school.
