In the spring our fancies turn to many things. Two of the biggest memories in the semester are the annual Bed and XVhite Valentine Formal and the Maroon Beauty Revue. A Coronation theme was carried out at the Valentine dance with large golden crowns and a red and white canopy over the ceiling of the gymnasium. YVe danced to the music of Larry Stephenson's orchestra. Buzzy Lewis, who was crowned by her date, john Fainter, was chosen from a group of eight nominees to be the sweet- heart of AHS. One night in March we all made a visit to fabulous XVonderland at the Maroon Beauty Bevue. Mary Rousos, joy Henson, and Kathleen Haney were chosen as the three most beautiful girls in Austin High. XVe all laughed at the antics of KTBC-TV's john Mack Burkhart as the Mad Hatter and our own Vincent Cuarino as the March Hare. The sluggish Caterpillar, played by Ion Paige Crowe, and the Cheshire Cat, portrayed by Kit Lee, enhanced the perfection of the NVonderland theme. THE BIC MOMENT arrives as Carolyn Calvert, 1956 beauty, announees the name of her successor, Mary Rousos, the most beautiful girl in Austin High for 1957. ,. aaa: 'WYIIO ARE YOU? asks the Cater- pillar, jon Paige Crowe, of jackie jen- kins, modern Alice in XVonderland, who was one of the T-1 nominees in the Maroon Beauty Revue.
