Vice-Principal and Dean oi Boys Mr. R. V. Baker, our new Vice-Principal and Dean ot Boys, came to Stephen F. Austin High School trom Waco, where he was principal oi the Technical High School. In the past year hard- working Mr. Baker has become a familiar figure to the students, tor his many duties include handling registration, overseeing the buildings and grounds, and planning and introducing all assembly programs. Mr. Bal-:er has a BA. degree from Baylor University and an MA. degree from the University ot Texas, and has served as prin- cipal ot several Texas high schools, as well as being a school supervisor with the US. Army in lapan. Twkx ,W Kr QQ- . -4-.. Dean of Girls Another pioneer during 1953-54, Mrs. lane Wilson has served her first year as Dean, moving up from the position of Social Director. Her jobs have been numerous, including sponsoring the Student Council, sponsoring the cheerleaders, serving as director of all social activities, and serving as school nurse. Mrs. Wilsons office has become a favorite spot tor students who need assistance with school problems and for those who just want to talk to the friendly, likable Dean. To her new rob Mrs. Wilson brought a BS. and an M.S. degree from Louisiana State Uni- versity. 9

ti Mr. Anderson shows Robbie Burlage, Hi-Y Pres- ident, the Public Schools Week posters which the Hi-Y chapter at Stephen F. Austin High distributed. Principal Always friendly and willing to lend his assistance to both teacher and student, Mr. Lipscomb Anderson has served Stephen F. Austin High School well in his first year as Principal. Stepping up from the ot- iice of vice-principal, a position which he had occupied for three years, Mr. Anderson became the tenth principal in the history oi Austin High School. He is well quali- fied to hold this important job, hav- ing had over twenty years of exper- ience in education and an M.S. degree from Texas A. 6. M. Mr. Anderson's accomplishments during 1953-54 include working out many activities with the two other Austin high schools as well as maintaining our school's position as a leader in competition with other Texas high schools. Through his industry and guidance Stephen F, Austin High School was a leader in Austin's gigantic centennial cele- bration oi public education in Texas.
