and you wouldn't believe it, but teachers are human too. They liked to see youngsters strive for the best. Naturallylthey liked some better than others, but they tried not to show it. We all aren't perfect, are we? . . . 1. Miss -Alfrey . . . just tickled me with that high-pitched laughing voice and funny conversation . . . so youthful, so gay . . . seemed so flippant, yet undemeath she was solid character. 2. Mr. Norton . . - easy-going, companionable, amiable . . . after he went to U.T. all momin , his aftemoon classes at A.H.S. were always refresiing, even though dull, boresome science was his subject. 8. Miss Iolmston . . . kind-hearted assistant of Miss Decherd . . . treated us very well-like peo le . . . how the boys did whistle when she walEed by. 4. Miss Vera Anderson . . . 'Let's get quiet', came throught our study hall microphone every few minutes . . . her way of trying to keep us quiet . . . this eflicient lady was always perfectly groomed, with every stitch and hair in place. 5. Mr. Marcus Williams . . . 'The possible we do immediatelyg the impossible may take a little longer' . . . that busy biology teacher didn't have any time on his hands when it came to dealing with his tenth grade students.

Mr. Keel . . . tried and usually did bring home winning track teams . . . his system of training and conditioning when followed always paid off with victories. 2. Miss Carman . . . a sedate and orderly little lady who never lost her temper or self-control . . . pferched on her desk while lecturing to her English c asses. 3. Mrs. Sutherland . . . with her superior guid- ance and personal interest given each child, she demonstrated in A.H.Sfs nursery that a 'happy home is worth working for.' 4. Mr. Kirkley . . . his tranquility and patience could not be ruffled by the noise and confusion always present in the metal shop. 5. Miss Mary Williams . . . that cooll smiling lady . . . stressed individualit . . . could always be seen with a paint brush in hand, flitting among us, improving our masterpieces.

1. Mr. Winfrey . . . an expert in eloquent debate work . . . 'Coachf loved and respected by debators, produced numerous winning teams during his many years at A. H. S .... not only taught debate but, also, how to live to the fullest. 2. Miss Trenckmann . . . 'Donit take yourself so seriously' . . . a favorite saying . . . those unbear- ably hard tests were offset by interesting classes and sound advice . . . laborously figured out a moral to each story read in class. 3. Miss Porter . . . vibrant red-head . . . really rolled the Spanish off her tongue into our heads . . . close friends Latin-Americans became after she vivid- ly related her travels in the Spanish countries. 4. Mr. Davis . . . 'All right, boys, letis get going' . . . and so' the ever-thoughtful and good-natured Mr. Davis began another period in machine shop. 5. Mrs. Moehr . . . 'Get your zero honestlyl' con- fronted us at each quiz . . . how her biology classes hated to bisect Archie the Cockroach . . . one of her favorite forms of showing off her spiced humorf, fm.. asf.. A.. 1 ,Q-ff1.,:n,1 1
