Darwin Sellers, To keep pace within an ever-ac- celerated, technological society, the Math and Science Departments have constantly updated their curriculum. All math instructors have tried to instill within their students a knowl- edge of math that can be applied ei- ther in college courses or under working conditions. Thus, the courses offered at AHS f geometry, intermediate algebra, advanced mathematics and senior mathemat- ics A enabled each student to better his proficiency in the basic skills as well as in the advanced studies. In the Science Department, the Chemical Education Material Study program, initiated in 1966, placed emphasis on discovery rather than on memory.
