Season Proves Tough for Football Team With the aid of returning lettermen, the Packer foot- ball team established a 4-3-l conference record which brought them fourth place in Big Nine standing. Al- though Austin did not prove to be a top team, they showed strength and determination against Big Nine champion Rochester. However Austin was plagued by a second period slump. Even though they often held a statistical edge, heavy fumbling took its toll. HALFBACK Sheldon Hess sweeps around the left end for a sizeable gain against Washburn. Outstanding individual performances were evident- the swift end running by Sheldon Hess, the fine kicking of Jerry Wilde, and offensive playing by Brian Baudler, Tom Davis, and Bob Fifield. Leading the defensive punch were Norm Pinke, Bob Lilliquist, Ken DeFor, Dove Kinny, Dick Gaughran and Bob Fifield. STOPPING A TOUCHDOWN MARCH, Ken DeF0r brings down a Winona man.
