T We Move Forward Into The Future We made it! The thought ot graduation brings mingled emotions to the seniors of Austin High School. The excitement of graduation is dampened by the thought of leaving high school. While iuniors anticipate becoming seniors, the seniors are wishing they could begin all over again. After thirteen years ot reading, writing, and arithmetic, the class of '57 will have many things to remember. Besides the studying and work there will be the extra special homecoming, the clubs, mixers, extracurricular activities, the most wonder- ful Prom of all, skip day, and finally graduation to also be remembered. While walking across the stage to the strains ot Pomp and Circumstance and receiving his diploma, the graduate realizes that another phase ot his lite has ended. Still, the many events seniors enjoyed proved that the often sung or shouted statement 57's the best year was true. For the graduated senior the future holds various pathways. Further schooling, working, serving Uncle Sam, whatever road they take, these graduates will always remember i957 at Austin High. Another class now moves out into the world, ready to assume adult responsibilities. GRADUATION MARKS THE CLOSE of another phase of their life for Judy Hogrefe and Norm Viste. BUSILY SIGNING AUSTINIANS are Beverly Hund- lo, Suzanne Meister, Jean Veverka, Carolyn Babb, Phyllis Smith, Diane Spiess and Carol Johnson. ART FENDRICK LISTENS ATTENTIVELY to the advice given by Mr. Willard, senior class advisor.

S The whistle blows and another season of sports begins at Austin High School Whatever the sport players strive for a satisfactory performance and hope to bring SPUHT victory to our school. They cannot always win, but in spite of their various set backs, the team members learn the valuable qualities of honesty, sportsmanship, and co- operation. However, the players are not the only ones who participate, for the spec- tators play an equally important role. The students also learn sportsmanship and apply that all important rule-if you can't play a sport-be one. Without strong school spirit, the boys would have no incentive to play their best-win or lose. ,
