Seniors Reflect - '55 Is the Best Year! Senior party goer's raised their hands in a salute as the clock struck New Year's Day, 1955-elated seniors filed out of a packed Williams Arena after Austin won a thriller from Bemidji singing '55 is the best year, and throughout the fun-packed Senior Skip Day this same refrain could be heard. Yes, to 350 graduating seniors of AHS '55 is the best year-their senior year. Filled with thrilling memories of a wonderful homecom- ing, state tournament, Skip Day, Prom, and dozens of other equally enjoyable times, these seniors will approach the auditorium steps for the last time at commencement. Although most of them graduate reluctantly, they are looking with hope toward the future-a fu- ture which could very well be as enjoyable and inspiring at '55-their senior year.

For a few it is trueg but for the large majority midnight was little more than the beginning of a night packed with excitement and fun, Following the dance, the upperclass- men split up to go to various private parties or to the Austin Country Club where over 100 gathered to dance, talk, and eat. But alas, as do all good things, the parties came to an end and fishing, swimming and watermelon busts consumed the rest of the time. Then betweeni the hours of five and six droopy-eyed juniors and seniors sat down to delicious breakfasts and reviewed the past evening's activities. With breakfast finished, tennis and golf were attempted despite fa- tigue. It was Thursday morning-twelve hours before Commencement excercises, when weary but happy couples piled into their cars and headed for home. As thoughtful girls and boys reflected on the events of the past hours, they knew the Prom had ended. They were home, but would they go to bed? Why, never! Sleep-that was only for other nights. r , ' , ' ' 23
