We Lead in Many Fields People, people, and more people-smart ones, average ones, glowing ones, sad ones. A great many factors contribute to an in- dividual's success. For instance, those pictured on this page are typical students plucked from our high school's swarming mass on the basis of their respective abilities. All seem to possess a naturally sensitive interest in others plus a streak of brilliance or the gift of speaking. Although some never attain recognition remember-the greatest gift is to be your- self and when the situation arises, apply your talents to the utmost of your ability. t'The throng loves the winner, whatever the test, The crowd likes the man who has proved he is best. Congestion reigns i Ili I ll bramlnar lesson dese, dem, d0ZLl1e Our Day Comes to A Perfect End The banging of lockers, piles of books, and excited talk on what's to come seems to be a signal that the formal studies are com- plete for the day. Lockers are the only space one can call his own and the extent of mak- ing it homelike is varied. As we leave the school for unknown des- tinations the work and talk of the day is far from forgotten. Some participate in sports or clubs while others sprinkle in a bit of laughter and fun over a coke or with friends. Then to bed, but no-the books must be cracked' despite droopy eyes. And so we close, thinking back on the events of the day and preparing for a similar one tomorrow! Screwball behind the cueball Bruce VN'eig1e To Each His Own School days, school days Ping pong, cards, and pool days, Movies, TV, Shaw Gym, and such, Things that the students all like so much, These are the pastimes we enjoy, They entertain each girl and boy, These hobbies add life to every day, As We turn from studies to play. School-that magical, mystical period in life which seems to drag on forever and yet flies by all too soon. Crowded halls, rushing students, piles of books, and lessons often lead us into a state of utter depression. And yet-when the 3:08 bell finally rings, We are lifted joyously into a mood of elation. With school forgotten, We rush for the Shaw Gym, a friend's house, the nearest ice cream store, or an easy chair and the TV set. Yes, relaxa- tion-Whether it be in the form of vigorous athletics or a quiet TV show-is certainly welcomed by AHS students at the close of a long but profitable day.
