Formal, informal, planned, or conjured on the spur-of-the-moment, par- ties with plenty of food and music are bound to be fun. Picnics, potlucks, and hen parties are popular.

Iiw-s, lim-lm-1, lluvlx- Take Homeroom Seats Something new, because of the large num- ber of students, were the split assemblies. Assemblies covered subjects of general in- terest and each one was considered a treat. In the line of music, we had the orchestra and choir's annual presentations and the tra- ditional Christmas community sing. A short religious play was given at the Christmas assembly this year. The University Players and Dirk and Bauble assemblies composed the dramatic programs We enjoyed. Among the favorites of our gatherings were the pep assemblies, of which Homecoming commands the greatest amount of interest. We also appreciated and profited from the assemblies of a more serious nature. Included in these were a program of political interest concerned with the organization of World Federalists, a scientific demonstration on col- ors, and a speaker on the subjects of alcohol and gambling.

We Get Together Social life is very much a part of a Well- rounded high school life. Our school mixers, club parties, and class get-to-gethers make up many wonderful evenings of fun. We Austinites have, of course, traditional fes- tivites. Our Homecoming activities, WPA week, Senior Skip Day, Junior-Senior Field day, and Prom are never-to-be-forgotten events. More frequent, however, are our informal gatherings-just the gang looking for some- thing to do. K'Oh, it's a perfect night for skatingf' shouts a restless student, so maybe the crowd goes skating. Perhaps, depending on various weather conditions, we toboggan, hike, picnic or decide on a cozy fire with lots of popcorn. Laughing and singing, we have fun in all we do. We enjoy planning and decorating for pri- vate or open-house gatherings, All these activities plus our many friends make up a school social life that We'll never forget.
