L gn iff' MMM In and Around Ausfm In some communities rural and urban lift represent two separate ways of living. Here in Austin the two are well-unihed through the democracy of the high school. Equal opportuni- ties for participation and advancement are pro- vided to country and city pupils. Each year the Student Council sets up a preparatory program to provide information for incoming students. Rural Day Program as it is called instructs Mower County students in thc system of Austin s high school. Special provision is made for transfer students who enter from other communities. All students thus may bridge the gap between one-room schools and Austin s S2 000 000 structure with conhdence and a knowledge of what is to come. Austin s busy Main Street may some day be the business home of some of our high school graduates.
