Our Rich” was the “power be- hind the throne.” His unerring judgment, untiring energy and faith- ful service gave us the victory. He is a man of long football experience, having assisted in coaching the A. M. College team in ’06-’07. He show- ed his ability in developing the Austin College team from almost absolutely raw material. FOOTBALL SPONSORS BASEBALL OFFICERS laaphall BASEBALL practice began the middle of February with many new men on the field. Under the direction of Coach Salm, As- sistant Coach Clayton and Captain Henderson it has been making steady progress since. Manager, Mr. A. F. Templeton, has arranged an exceptionally heavy schedule, one that should inspire our representatives on the diamond to their best efforts, and to him our most hearty thanks are due for his untiring efforts and interest manifest in the team. He is widely acquainted with amateur base- ball players of the State and has used his influence in bringing some of them to Austin College. Two games have been played up to this date—the New York Giants on March 22 and 23. As a matter of course, we were defeated, but taking the difference of the teams into consideration the results were entirely satisfactory and we have a good foundation for our hopes for success during the coming season. Case, whose careful and painstaking labors have resulted in a manifest improvement from year to year. Each spring since the establishment of the Club one or more trips to neighboring towns have been made. To these concert tours and especially to the annual visit of the Club to the Texas Presbyterian College at Milford, each member has looked forward with much anticipation. The principal tour of the past season included Milford, Corsicana, and Cleburne. Twenty-four of the best singers were selected from an original membership of over fifty to make this tour. Beside the regular numbers by the Glee Club proper and the Octette, variety was added to the programs by the renditions of the Violin Trio, of Miss Belle Hughes, soprano, and of Mr. Emil Niclaus, violinist. Prof. Case assisted the Club again this season as director and accompanist. ORGANIZATIONS CLUBS Y. M. C. A. CABINET Houng Urn's (Elutstian ABBnriation W. E. Long Jno. McWilliams R. F. Griiiblf. C. H.
