The Reverend john F. Calloway, O.S.A. Rector of Austin Catholic Preparatory School Once again it is my privilege to address a short message to you. the graduating class of 1960. It is a privilege mingled with joy and sadness. joy, shared with you at the successful completion of the second phase of your educationg sadness, at the thought of losing men whom I have come to know and respect over the course of four years. Oftentimes, graduation is looked upon as a re- lease from further obligation to the school, but such is not the case. I think, perhaps, your responsibility is greater. You carry with you the reputation of Austin which you must preserve for those whom you leave behind. No matter what you do, whether you go on to college, to work, or to the Armed Services, The Rector-'s Message you must always strive to uphold and to live the principles that your teachers and parents have en- deavored to instill into you. In so doing, you will add luster to your school's good name and you and all who come after you will shine in its reflected glory. I think I can give you no better advice as you leave Austin than that given by a Naval Captain in writing home to his small son during the last war, i'Be a good Catholic, son, and you can 't help but be a good American.
