After winning the Central Division Title, our Friars qualified to play in the Catholic League Tournament. The first team from each of the eight divisions participated in this tournament, the first of its kind in the Catholic League. Our initial encounter was with Lourdes. RESERVE BASKETBALL Standing Manager Dick De Lamielleure Jim Colombo, George Nickson, Charles Billen, Russ Schoener, Dan Kneeling Elwood Wachter Tom Fredal Pat Frank, Barry VanTiem, Ted l-linz, Our Reserve Basketball Teams during the past two years have run up a streak of twenty-four consecutive victories. ln Austin's short history the Reserves hold thirty wins to only one loss This year they went all the way to the City Championship with a spot- less record. Defeating Mt. Carmel, they gave Austin High its first athletic title.
