WJ jJz JsAs There have been years Of doubt and now, Now it is a year Of friendship and peace. You tempered the seasons Of fighting and pushed Us to reach this time Of joking and crying. There has been an Ebb and flow of days, Of Days filled with Being here and leaving here We will return to find The circle is the same. You still guide them To the shore we have Now found is the real world. 1983 This book is dedicated to Mr. Barney Mitchell for his unsurpassed, unfailing and always hu- morous assistance on the yearbook staff and in our school days. I am in AuSable Valley, from Stockholm, Sweden, for one year. I really like AuSable and the people I have met. In school, I participated in the soccer, weight-lifting, and track programs. I was also in the Ski Club. Gym was my favorite class. Windsurfing, skiing, and sailing are my favor- ite hobbies. When I return to Sweden, I will have to at- tend one more year of school, even though I will have graduated from AVCS. Then again, one day, I hope to come back and visit the U.S. CVAC Soccer All-Star Set to go on the 1983 Ski Club Trip AuSrfto Vafey Contrai School 38 Cindy Besaw TOTS Bob Lemieux ‘What a Hunk” Marilyn Minouge “She's mine all mine” Nancy Smith Brenda Roberts - “Baby KamiKaze” “Gerber Look Alike - Candy Cooke Chris Dickerson- Stretch 1-2-3 Billy McNierney Melissa Sheldrake I think I’m wet!! Members are elected from home- rooms and in their first meeting officers are elected. The Council sponsors various school and community activi- ties. With the money earned from these promotions they help other organizations. A branch of the National Honor Society, the AVCS Honor Society is a service organization whose members are chosen from grades ten through twelve by a faculty committee. Nominees are judged on scholarship, lead- ership, service and character. Honor Society funds are saved for an annual group trip. HONOR SOCIETY Row 1: K. Matyi, K. LaBounty, J. Kahn, S. Au Sable Valley FBLA has accomplished its number one goal for this year by creating an Advisory Council composed of local business peopl.e The new Advisory Council members were introduced to parents and school administrators at a Covered Dish Supper in September. FBLA members held basket parties to accumulate baskets which they decorated for gifts which were given at their senior citizens Christmas bingo party. Raffles, candy sales, and car washes have helped members to raise funds to attend an overnight trip to Albany where they toured the State Capitol and State Museum and to Cobleskill where they competed in Business Education Day and brought home eight awards for placing in the top ten in several con- tests. The Chapter sent a representative group to the Regional Lead- ership Conference in Amherst in October and will be sending several members to the State Leadership Conference at the Concord in April. Members have developed a program and are currently meeting with all civic groups to tell the local community about the activities of FBLA. Officers: L. McCann, Pari.; N. Smith, V. Pres.; M. Minogue, Rep.; M. Sheldrake, Hist.; J. Perrotte, Pres.; S. Snow. Treas. POTTERY CLUB The Pottery Club officers are nominated and elected in their pottery classes. Our Pep Rally was better than ever with the Seniors winning Most Spirit. We lost our Varsi- ty football game to Moriah, 15 to 8, but went on to win our J.V. game, 26 to 6. The dance was the climax to a terrific week where everybody got together before starting into the old grind again. HOMECOMINGH 85 YEARBOOK STAFF Back: M. Belanger, E. Winslow, R. Lawrence, A.
