Ausable Valley Middle-High School Clintonville, New York Even in the Quietest Moments . . . In Our Quietest MoWe, The Class Of ’78 Dedicate This Book To Our Friend, Randy Wright. Life Life is: . ups and downs days when everything goes wrong, days that you wouldn't trade for the world. Life is: high hopes some that fall to nothing, but others that you someday reach. Life is: growing up and learning, changing from day to day, both mentally and physically, always improving and gaining. Life is: people, the young, looking forward to growing up, the old, remembering how it used to be, and some satisfied with, the way it is. Life is: friends, those whom you'll always treasure, and those who may be important now, but will someday be a fleeting memory. Life is: love, an emotion too hard to really explain, crying, laughing, anger, resentment, pity, envy, and so many more feelings. Life is: so much more, the entire world around us, everywhere, everything is life. And yes, Life is even dying, for no one lives forever. -Molly The three stooges. All that we are is a re- sult of what we think -Buddha It's time for my morning I'll see your bid and raise you one. feeding. I alone beweep my out- cast state. William Shakespeare. A t s Catching Flies Glad to see you back, Marty! 25 Forever .... 9 Spring Festival 12 Can it be that it was all so simple then, Or has time rewritten every line? If we had the chance to do it all again, Tell me, would we, could we? 13 Homecoming 14 Homecoming week- end, Oct. 28-30, be- gan Friday with a pep rally in the gym. With each class having chosen 2 girls for the court, Nancy Bola was crowned Homecoming Queen. Other honors were given to the sophomores for their window, and the freshmen for the best float. Saturday we had the game with MAI. Although they defeated us, we showed much spirit and had a lot of fun. The game was followed by a dance that evening. On Sunday the freshmen were victors at pow- der nuff football. 15 16 SENIORS Brian Ahrent Theresa Aubin Penny Baker Sandy Alloggio Sherry Archambault Donna Baker Paul Baldwin Bonnie Barber Bret Beisinger Joe Bennage Kathy Bay lies Dane Beisinger Russell Bennage Steve Beckwith Debra Belanger Chris Benway Kimberley Blaise Leslie Bezio Mark Blaise Richard Bouyea Sue Bezio Nancy Bola Michael Brooks 21 Kevin Camire Laura Cassidy Amy Cave 22 Calvin Coolidge William Corrigan Tim Cross Deborah Drinkwine Jonathan Drown Darling Daily Sue Devlin Starr Dillon Susan Doherty Kevin Douglas Rodney Douglas Debbie Durgan Molly Durgan Kenneth Edwards Scott Ferris Jami Fisk Kim Fleury Michael Fleury Michael Finnegan 24 Bonnie Hathaway Anne Healey Lorena Frazier Brian Furnia Linda Gaboriau Lisa Hammond Mark Hanson Alan Hart Sherry Hilborne Louise Houle Heidi Jersey Peggy Hoey Patricia Howerton Cathy Johnson Avi Heller Danny Holdridge Trudy Joyal Michael Kelley Jeff LaBounty John Kelley Stan Krajeski Bonnie Lashua Leo Kusalonis Tamara Leclerc Tim Lincoln Daniel Manning Abe Lincoln Wayne Mann Rose Ann Marino Larry Lawrence Sheryl Lincoln Perry Marsha Kevin McCallister Kevin McDonald Mary Mischler Vicky Millie Craig McDonald Cynthia McCormick 29 Timothy Mousseau Michael Mussen Susan O'Connor Ann Patnode George Ouimette Jody Perkins Terry Pray Wally Pulsifer Randy Pray Carl Prentiss Wayne Pelkey Sherry Pray Elizabeth Prentiss Lori Rennie Kathy Rhino John Roach Genie Robinson Holly Rock Debbie Rhino Gene Robarge William Rock 32 Brian Rushford Marc Sarnow Brian Shumway Randy Ryan Edie Sawyer David Rule Sue Ryan Karen Seguin Anastasia Skufca Patrick Smith Cathy Snow William Thwaits Kathryn Walsh Lynn Warner 35 7 Dale Winter Daniel White Brian Willis Douglas Winter Patricia Woodside Carol Ann Yard Chris Zelazny The following people wer en't photographed: Danny Doyle Steve Fuller Peter Gladu Howard Gumlaw Charles Haywood Sherry Hilborne Julie LaGoy Kenneth Lesnowski Michael Macey Harland Mattila Chris Turner 36 Who’s Who Of The Class Of 78 The following people were voted on. Looks like we made it Left each other, on the way to another love Looks like we made it or I thought so, 'till today until you were there ... every- where ... and all I could taste was love the way we made it. 44 45 Love's so strange .. . Playin' hide and seek, with hearts and always hurtin' And we're the fools Stan- din' close enough to touch those burnin' memories And if I hold you for the sake of all those times .... love made us lose our minds Could I ever let you go Oh, no ... we made it Left each other on the way to another love Looks like we made it Or I thought so, 'till today until you were there . .. every- where . .. and all I could taste was love the way we made it .... 46 Senior Directory The Following People Submitted This Information: Ahrent, Brian-Track 3; Jr. Prom Comm. 3. Drama Club All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players They have their exits and their entrances And one man in his time plays many parts. William Shakespeare 94 This past year at AuSable Valley has been a year of ad- vancement, achieve- ment, promise in athletics. Each of our teams demonstrated considerable skillfull- ness in their sport bilt maintained a very positive attitude with which to per- form. The girls' swim- ming, track, soc- cer teams all had ex- cellent performances at sectionals with the track squad placing 1st stealing the section title. The softball, base- ball, football, tennis, boys' track teams, although not placing in sectionals had many outstanding perfor- mances had a lot of fun. Teams that require as much mental effort as physical skill such as golf, volleyball, gymnastics also dis- played versatile skills in setting their, re- cords seizing their many victories. At the time of this writing, the basket- ball, wrestling, boys' swimming teams are active also offering many exceptional finishes for our school. Spectator support was a very important factor throughout each season was espe- cially apparent during Homecoming. Spirit enthusiasm played a large part in every victory attained by AVCS. Mr. Brogowski, our Athletic Director, stresses the self-sat- isfaction pleasure that an athlete feels after an accomplish- ment. He also men- tions the importance of student participa- tion in sports adds, Patriot pride doesn't just happen — it has to be developed worked on by every one of us. ■ • The golf team, with a 3-11 record, had to its credit many hard- working young ath- letes . Coach Hol- dridge attributes suc- cess to fresh air and humorously adds, Our team plays golf to conserve energy — the golf cart uses less gas than the lawn mower. Golf Row 1, L-R: R. LaFountain, R. Horton, Coach Holdridge, M. Estes, T. Estes. Missing: A. Mace, P. Smith, T. Sorrell, D. Snow. All this empty space looks queer, But we want to make this very clear, No matter how hard we seemed to try, The golf team was just too camera-shy! Tennis Row 1, L-R: B. Pray, R. Wright, J. Ahrent, W. The main factor that kept the tennis team alive was stamina. The team ended with a 1-6 record, but Ms. Scott believes its de- termination was in- comparable, says, Even though we didn't have many team victories, we had many personal tri- umphs .'' 98 Girls’ Track Section VII Champs Row 1, L-R: C.
