OFFICERS President-Junette Johnson Vice-President-Dennis Jaeger Secretary-Sharon Smolich Treasurer-Rodney Rosandich Each year representatives of the Student Council and their advisor attend the State Student Council Convention. This past year four members attended the Con- vention which was held in St. Louis Park. Minnesota, on November 5th, 6th, and 7th. This past year the Student Council has sponsored two magazine sales, and an all school carnival. The Council also purchased a flag which was given to the school to be used at opening ceremonies at Basketball games. This year again we find the Council sponsoring the yearbook, THE NORTHERN LIGHTS. 28

An hour of memorized readings was given on Thursday and Friday. Thurs- day featured the junior high participants. On Friday the remainder of thejunior high students gave their selections and the sen- ior high participants competed for honors. The selections learned consisted of a wide range of materials--sacredmusic of various eras, as well as Negro spirituals, folk songs, and modern numbers. Major performances by the group included the Christmas program, the Dedication program in January, Size District Music Festival at Eveleth, and a combined concert with the band, April 29
