Journalism 99 OURSELVES Seniors . . . 1974 Class Colors — Burgandy and Cream Class Flower — Red Rose Class Song — The Long and Winding Road . . . Beatles Class Motto — If man does not keep pace with his companions perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away. — Thoreau — CLASS HISTORY Although our Senior year has become a time for looking out and beyond we are also looking back over those four swiftly-passing years that began in the fall of 1970. We suffered all the Freshmen woes from hiking between buildings to having no voice in the student government, although all was not so gloomy - that year, the dress code was eliminated. But our Sophomore year soon arrived and we found ourselves immersed in all the activities of full-fledged high school students. We now had the opportunity to be represented in student government and we elected Sandy Tandy, Randy Lyons, and Albert Pfister to Student Council and Larry Cheek, Kris Houze, Jada Lothridge, and Jim Thayer as Class Officers. In the fall of 1972, we began an even busier year, as juniors. We elected Kris Houze, Sandy Tandy, John Ryle, and Dan Vorbroker to Student Council and Paula Storey, Teresa Schuler, Janet Blair, and Angie Slay-back as Class Officers. Laboring at the concessions stand and bakesales, we financed our prom, Polynesian Promises, which was created under the leadership of Paula Storey. And soon, the long-waited year was finally upon us. We became Seniors and led by Student Council members Sandy Tandy, John Ryle, Royce Smith, Randy Lyons and Connie Fiorito, and Class Officers Albert Pfister, Dan Vorbroker, Peggy Givan, and Barry Lovett, we accepted the responsibilities of our last year at A. H.S. and labored diligently on the annual and the class play, Turn Back the Clock. It has been only four short years since our first day at A. H.S. and these years have been filled with experiences that we can look back to and reminisce about. But while we are enjoying the nostalgia we are looking forward and beyond to the experiences to come.
