Festive Fair Finale Farmer’s Fair brought many different attractions to Aurora. Students released from school at noon on the Thursday of the fair, congregated in town to get their first sampling of the fair. That evening Aurora High School's own Eddie Edwards won the title of Sesqui-Centennial Fair King. The Pet Parade was enjoyed by a large crowd Friday afternoon. Friday evening stage entertainment was provided by the M ilan High School Band. Playing “Baubles, Bangles, and Beads” from Kismet, the high stepping A.H.S. band led the fair parade through the streets of Aurora. After the full day at the fair, crowds were entertained with a concert by the high school band. After the streets were cleaned of the debris of three fair days only memories of hog calling, cotton candy eating, parading, and game playing remained. Randy Lothridge stops the parade as he evaluates the photographer behind him. Terry Klueber explains his hat by saying, “When my hair gets wet, it gets curly.” Mickey Busse and Becky Weaver sing about milking cows and raising sheep.

Youth Day The team of Wingate and Kern head for the lead as Janey Molen loses her wheels. Part of the Sesqui-Centennial festivities were devoted specifically to the younger citizens of Aurora. A committee of high school students planned various games and races for Youth Day which all students of Aurora schools were invited to attend. Those who attended the Youth Day celebrations in the Aurora City Park took part in a car rodeo, balloon throwing, three-legged racing, and watermelon eating contests. The rope finally broke due to weighty matters on the girls’ end. 10 Barb Schaich drives home her point in the car rodeo.
