What does the future hold? These questions and others like them run through the minds of A. H.S. students as the years come and go. What does the future hold? For the underclassmen there are the coming years at A. H. S. Fairs, dances, proms, and sports all lie ahead. As the seniors look to new horizons, there is much anticipation. College, business opportunities, marriage, and the armed forces are now vague images which will soon become reality. Tradition and memories pave the way for the future. Everyone's horizon looms before them. What it holds depends upon the individual. 2 U Hamilton, our Congressman, speaks on governmental work as a possible career. Aptitude tests reveal hidden talents. The Armed Services offer careers chosen by many boys each year. Local businessmen try to persuade students to enter their line of work. 3 The big city provides many future job opportunities both permanent and part time. Empty desks symbolize college careers many seniors face. If you think they're smiling now.. .wait till after the game. 4 The leaping flames of the bonfire kindle the school spirit in everyone. Bill Cheek fights to control his hungry tongue, as Dan Hicks mumbles, ” What the heck, let it all hang out!! One Two Cha-Cha-Cha! Solemn faces are prevalent as seniors partici pate in their final pep session. Shelly tries frantically to find a slushball, as Phil Weaver screeches, 111 get you yet, you GUNK IE!!” BEFORE -- Time-7:45 a.m., Monday morning (Note the peaceful tranquility of A.H.S.) AFTER -- Time-3:10 p. m., Friday afternoon (You call this tranquility???) These empty cars are perfect examples of the new rule No loitering” in the parking lot! Sharon and Judy give the cameraman a hand as they are shoved through the gym doors by the stampeding herd. 7 The Masked Marauders conjure sly tricks as they pre pare to treat the onlookers. Linda Hinman gives her bicuspids a real work out, as June hurriedly notes her dental progress. PROM 1967 - Desert Air, Exotic Fare The drenching rain failed to dampen the spirits of parents and friends. Wayne jealously eyes Diapers and her man, as he wonders where his own date has gone. This is one harem even a camel would walk a mile for. 10 I could have danced all night, but my bunions burned. There's nothin' like Calcutta pie and shish-ka-bobs to tickle your innards. Hold it! I think you're going to like this picture! n Do you mean-? Are we. . . Could it be--? Really--? Not us--? Are you sure? The big moment arrives. Last year’s King and Queen abdicate in favor of Bev and Dennis! Queen Bev and King Dennis surrounded by their royal court: D. Gabbard, K. Cleeter, S. Fox, B. Cheek, B. Longcamp, V. Willoughby, G. Marching bands; flowery Aurora's marching 130 headed the parade with a very un-routine routine. A winning spirit inspired by Coach Brown. Good thing we learned how to play Ring around the Rosie' We love a parade; especially at Homecoming time! in kindergarten! No bill of goods, no ' tonne” award, but a rosey tribute for our gayla homecoming queen. 17 Christmas Traditions A new twist was put in the Christmas show this year. The Spanish class gave a very inspirational play about a little evergreen which became a lovely Christmas tree. Once upon a time there was a small lonely evergreen tree in the big forest. . . . and along came a little bunny rabbit (cute face); with a hop it jumped over the tree. The little tree's crowning moment came at Christmas when it became a beautiful Christmas tree. Traditional Christmas music from our band and choir completed the program. 18 Yuletide Festivities 1968 Christmas Dance Queen Candidates: Seniors. Regally dressed in red velvet is our Christmas Dance Queen. Judy Hussung, Sharon Fox, Rosey Horen, Gayle Sharon Fox. Caudill (not pictured). 19 When we weren't dancing, we chatted with friends and sipped cokes. 20 We danced til midnight 'neath the romantic Parisian skies. Dancing takes all kinds of shapes, it’s plain to see. Wasn’t it great! Surely what Linda's saying can't be that funny, Sharon. Smile, everyone! Some people simply refuse to cooperate! INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER GANG PLANK DARI BOAT 152 MARTIN'S JEWELRY One hundred classes have graduated from Aurora High School. As the one-hundred and first graduating class, the class of 1968 begins a new chapter in the history of Aurora High. Certain changes took place during our four years at A.H.S. We were the first freshman class at Northside. By ordering our class rings our sophomore year, we set another precedent. Then, our junior year we went to the Tiki-Club for the post prom, another first. Now, for the first time, we have included in our annual all the spring activities. We're also proud of the fact that our annual is the first Aurora Borealis to contain a color picture. The past four years have also changed the members of the class of 1968—from immature teeny-boppers to young adults prepared to meet this challenging world. ■ '■T class of Acknowledgements Each year, the Senior Class of Aurora High School strives to make its annual just a little better than the ones before it. This can not be accomplished by just one person. It takes teamwork. Each member of the team does his own job and in his own way helps to create the Aurora Borealis. We would like to express our appreciation to each and every person who helped to make the Aurora Borealis what it is.... We thank the teachers who took the time to offer their valuable assistance; the members of the Senior Class who generously put forth their own time and effort to help meet the deadlines; and the school custodians who patiently cleaned the class room while we were underfoot. We would also like to thank the merchants and businessmen of Aurora and surrounding areas for buying advertisements and supporting our annual. And last, but far from the least, the annual staff sincerely thanks Mr. Raymond Joseph Hudson, our faculty advisor, for putting up with all of our yelling and complaining during this past year.
