1967 will be remembered as the year the one hundredth class graduated from Aurora High School. Perhaps, we students should take the time to reminisce for a moment, recalling the many traditions which set Aurora apart from the many thousands of small towns across the nation so similar to it. Aurora has long been a city of traditions. Its many towering church steeples, its quaint residential streets, and the grand Hillforest mansion, which has overlooked downtown Aurora for over a century, help create the mood of rustic beauty found in this corner of Indiana. Aurora has also many events which have become traditional through time. For instance, where in the world is there anything like the Aurora Farmer's Fair, with its carnival attractions and its glittering parade? And who could imagine an Aurora without the many recitals put on by her high school band and choir? Finally, what other town welcomes May to music, with the Sunrise Seranade to spring on Hillforest’s lawn? Aurora High School, too, is noted for its traditions. Although the school has undergone many changes in the past 100 years, we have managed to retain the best of her traditions to continue the excellence of her educational facilities. For example, we still continue the learning tradition of her classrooms, the winning tradition of her athletic teams, and the social traditions of her many extra -curricular activities. No one can predict what the next 100 years will bring; maybe today's traditions will be only a memory. But we are sure that the traditions of the 200th graduating class will mean as much to them as our traditions mean to us.
