The Ckss of n55 Ttasents: CHARLES L. LEHNER MSHINCTOk We, the seniors of nineteen, hundred fifty-five, give you-the future graduates, and you-the alumni of Aurora High School, this record of our school year. After three long years of study, work, and worry, we have come into our own-our senior year. We have tried to live our year to the hilt-and perhaps we have seen it slipping away from us. There are those of us who have planned to have their senior year empty of school worries; others of us have awaken to the fact of how little we know and have striven to make our last year really count. We, the class that has suffered through the new highway and the building construction, stand also as the largest graduating class in the history of Aurora. This book is the portrayal of our school activities during our senior year. We, the class of 1955, dedicate this annual to Miss Bernice Teaney, who throughout her years of teaching at AHShas devoted much of herself to better prepare the students for work and for life. These students came from many of the grade schools surrounding Aurora. Among these students were a good number of athletes who helped win four Sectional tourneys in Basketball and a good number of football games in the final year. This year they also won second prize on the excellent float but didn't win first prize on account of Sophomores' bribing the judges. Through the mirror of confusion this year, we elected: PRESIDENT - Phyllis Brown, VICE-PRESIDENT - Zana Klingelhoffer, SECRETARY - Jerry Drew, TREASURER - Jerry Willman. The total number at the end of this year was 106. Through the summer of 1952 we gained Charles Lehner from Evansville's Reitz Memorial High School to make a total of 107 high-faluting Sophomores who thought they knew it all. We roamed around the school looking at the bewildered Freshmen, who were wandering through the halls looking for their classes. After several elections we finally decided on; PRESIDENT - Bill Benning, VICE-PRESIDENT - Melvin Johnson, SECRETARY - Zana Klingelhoffer, TREASURER - Corneluis Banschbach. We followed the basketball team of Rushville only to be defeated. Gaining two new students, Melvin Ritchie from Latham, Ohioand Don Schuck from Versailles, gave us a total of 108 to start out our Junior year. We, as Juniors, like everyone else, thought it was our big year with things such as class rings and the Junior-Senior prom to look forward to. We think that our prom was the greatest prom of Aurora High, consisting of: 4 hours of dancing, a delicious dinner at midnight, a wonderful movie, and a startling ride on the Ohio River on the Johnson Party Boat to finish the night. We all arrived home at the wee hours of the morning. Again we followed the courageous basketball team to Rushville, but to fall to defeat again. The class officers for this year were: PRESIDENT - David Kyle, VICE-PRESIDENT - Melvin Johnson, SECRETARY - Irvin Mulford, TREASURER - Charles Huxsoll. But on graduation day there were only 100 diplomas handed out on account of the marriage of our dignified Seniors, Harold Jackson to Sheila Carey and Erma Crider to Ronald McPeek. Now we leave the school to the up and coming Freshmen, ill-mannered Soph's and snooty Juniors. ■ CLASS WILL I, CHARLES HUXSOLL, will be happy to leave this place. ALUMNI REPORT OF 1955 Upon our graduation, this Class of 1955 will enter the Alumni Association of Aurora High School, an organization which is 59 years old, having been recognized in 1896. Our 88th graduating class has the distinction of being the largest in the history of this school system; a record which, no doubt, we will hold only a few years. Our 99 members swells the total number of graduates to 2,748. The Class of 1941 now holds second largest place with a total of 88 members. We fervently hope that the Alumni will be proud to welcome so large an addition, and that we, too, can honor our Alma Mater by proudly welcoming future classes into the Association. Out of these 99 the following are some whose parents are members of the Alumni Association.
