DOROTHY UHLMANSIEK Dorothy, or “Dot” as she is known to everyone, is well-liked by all the students and she makes herself practically indispensable by performing many necessary duties. She handles most of the school’s funds, she is Mr. Driver’s private secretary, and she also sells school supplies in the office. Dot’s happy smile and sparkling brown eyes are a familiar and pleasing sight to everyone here at A. H. S. “JIM” Our faithful janitor, Jim Hambrink, who has been cleaning up our spilled ink and used paper for the past four years has been appreciated, although we didn’t always stop to tell him so. Early in the mornings he would fix the furnaces and would be the last one to leave in the evening. He was always there when we had a game or a dance giving everyone a helping hand and friendly smile. 4

H. E. DRIVER Superintendent Many improvements have been added to the Aurora Schools during the past year. A new room of desks was purchased for the Southside and the sidewalks around the building were repaired. A new hot water system has been installed for the rest room and kitchen. The P. T. A. with the help of the school board installed a new sink and cupboards and purchased many new utensils for use in the kitchen. The school is planning to start a hot lunch program for the children. A new hard surface, outside basketball court was laid at West Aurora. The furnaces were also overhauled with the addition of new blowers. A new R.C.A. projector and screen were added at the North Building and a new strip machine to show “stills” was also purchased. New liquid type duplicators were added at the North and South Building. The High School and the Northside were both painted on the outside. A new behind the Wheel drive course was instituted at the high school this year. The dual control car was obtained through Speckman Bros. Garage. New office furniture, including a new desk and chair for the clerk, was purchased for the office. Fourteen typewriters were replaced in the typing department, as we returned to the old system of replacing a typewriter after three years use. Several other pieces of equipment were added in the various other departments.
