It seems that Mary Ann B had stumbled over one of Byron s daughters toys and spralned her ankle Lucky for her that Nomxa W was wxth us that day for she IS head nurse of the Aureha Commumty Hosp1taL Talkmg w1th Mary Ann I found she was marrxed and a content housewrfe Mary also told me that Patty K was head nurse rn the nursery depart ment Drscusstng other classmates wrth Mary Ann she told me that Phylhs H had moved to Cahfornra where xt was warmer all year round It seems she could not get plane reservatrons so she was unable to attend our class reumon Leavrng Mary Ann I found Sandra O eatrng refreshments I mqtured about what she had done smce graduatlon she told me that she was teachlng at the new Aureha Grade School and was very happy She also told me that Chuck C our town mayor was workrng very hard tryrng to get the town councll to btuld a new hlgh school but as of yet the brll had not passed Sandy told me that Mary Jane C was teachmg at the htgh school her ma1n course was Enghsh l knew she had done well for herself wrth only three classmates left I knew my report would soon be at an end Not bemg able to locate the remarmng three, I went to Byron to see rf they were present Byron told me that Lanny G and Carl G could not come to the reunlon Lanny was sull ln sprxng baseball practrce wrth the New York Yankees but sent us free passes to theu' opening game Carl was makmg an annual tour of forexgn countrres wxth the Mlnneapolls Mrllers He took George Mlkans place when George reured and stnce he had the same abrhnes he got the posrtron At the end of our Senlor year a new and charrnrng g1rl Jamce Burrell came to fmrsh her year at Aureha Hrgh When I asked her what she had done smce graduatron she told me that she hked Aureha so well that she and her husband had opened a dress shop and were llvmg rn Aureha In completmg my report about my old classmates I reahzed ll was gettrng late and I knew I must hurry If I wanted to get ll 1n the mormng paper I saxd good bye to all my classmates and off I went to pubhsh my new found facts I felt qulte proud and very content for now I knew that all my fr1ends were happy and I too was happy for I had seen old faces that brought back memorxes of happlness Gayle Mongan Reporter for the New York Herald Trmes Report a Success! Class Prophecy EXTRA! EXTRAI READ ALL ABOUT IT AURELIA HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION CLASS OF 1956 IS HOLDING A CLASS REUNIONIII As this headline was repeated I decided to look into the matter Being a graduate of the 1956 class I thought tt would be a human interest story well worth looking into Italked to my boss Darrell R who was editor of the New York Herald Times and after much persuasion on my part he too thought xt would be worth the time and effort I found out that the reumon was to be held on the Schulke Estate 12 miles south of Aureha on May 30 1966 Finally the day arrived and I found myself very eager to be on my way to see my old classmates again My first encounter was with Roger L who seemed to be having some difficulty with his automobtle I knew it was Roger because he still was driving that 1953 Chevy he had when he was a senior in high school After a short hello I found out that he had gone on to college and become an optometrtst I also found out Roger had become a family man but it seems that his wife Jane P had caught a nasty virus and that the twins were tn bed with a cold I said good bye and went on my way When I reached Byrons his darling wife met me and told me how happy they were Byron had be come a successful cattle raiser His 12 cute daughters liven up his farm the most though After my short visit with our hostess I met Karen B who had become a very successful math teacher She took Mr G Fett s position after he received an appointment at Drake Uruversnty My next encounter was with Roger J and Jack Bulldog T from this v1s1t I found out that both are happily married and are sharmg a house at Notre Dame where they both are head coaches Continuing this conversation I learned that Larry H and Artie S are now professional football players for the ClevelandBrowns and from what Jack says they are doing quite well While talking to Roger and Jack I heard someone yell, Cold Drinks Get Your Cold Drmks Here Much to my surprise I found Jack C selling pop on the side It seems that his pohtical aspects didn t tum out so well I bought a bottle of pop from Jack and whlle drinking it Mary K stopped to say hello She ts now a Hollywood model and IS head dress designer for M G M pictures During our personnel discussion of the past our host made an announcement that Bill B would not come to this year s reumon It seems he had just welcomed triplets tnto his home over to pick up some more news I learned that Pat H was married and is planning a shower for Pat S who is being married the 10th of June Pat tells me she just finished her business career These girls are still tndtspensable friends and see each other at krutting circle every week with the day slipping by I dashed off to finish my report I fmd Jane G sull single and very handy with her hands She owns the btggest Beauty Salon in the city Her able bodied assistant is Judy T who IS married to a traveling salesman so she still is writing letters Judy told me that Dee Ann D is now in Europe with her actor husband They open at the Royal Palace in 3 weeks so she couldn t come to our reumon Once again our host calls us together to get the attention of our town s famous vetermarians Otto 8: Otto As I suspected it was Ardelle and Phyllis It seems that Benny A s herd of Ayrshire dairy cows has a dread disease As this herd serves the town with fresh milk every day notlung must happen to them. I am hoping, Ben that all s well by the mme this goes to press Returning from all the excitement I spotted Ruth P Lois T Mary L and Marlene M off in a corner giggling Bexng curious I went over to see what seemed to be so funny ldiscovered that they now were called The Gigglmg Four and were making their T V debut on the Ed Sullivan Show Sunday night 'Wanting to be by myself I went off lnacornertorest, I found that I wasn t alone though for I saw Jerry M Phillip P and Gaylord L discussing their business matters I found out that Phillip owned a 640 A farm north of Aurelia and was a sucwssful corn harvester Gaylord became a rancher and Jerry runs a turkey farm south of Aureha After discovering their occupations I visited a time then dashed off tn search of more news I found Penny M and Rosie B chatting together and went over to continue my report Penny told me that she was happily married and lived on a farm south of Aurelia that her husband had mherited from his father Rosie told me she was teaclung school in The Alta Grade School and visited Penny often, for they still were good friends . . . , l . .
