Reverend Gwen King Installed As Campus Pastor The Rev. Gwendolyn S, King was installed as Associate Poster of the Augustono Campus Church in October, 1080. The installation was held in Ascenston Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Paul E. Erickson, bishop of the Iltinois Synod of the LCA, as installing officery Rev. King, who was the fourth black woman ordained by the Luthern Church in America, serves CIS Associate Pastor for both the College as we!l as the campus congregation. Pastor King orgiholly planned to be a veterinarian. but her plans changed during her sophomore year at Gettysburg College. when she began to take more religion classes and was urged by her campus pastor to enter the ministry. As she became more intetested in campus ministry she discov- ered more possibilities available in the field to the ordained rather than the lay person, and made her decision to be ordained. Gwen comes to Augustonc full of zest and ready to help others reach the goal that she hopes to achieve, to be- come whole Unique Organ Adorns Campus Church A new addition adorned the Augustono Campus Church late this year, as a 46th century-style pipe organ was 1n- stalled in the rear of the sanctuary. The renaissance organ, which was built by Gene Bedient is one of only three of its kind. The wooden case encloses 407 pipes which make the organ much more of a traditional muslcol instrument than its preceeding electric collegue. 10 Augie Events
