This year's Oktoberfest, held on Oct. 6, commenced with the entire student body porking-out at dinner - German style - inWesterlin Cafeteria. The evening meal was followed by a rousing polka dance in Westerlin Lounge, which was highlighted by Herr Weber's annual attendance in lederhosen. Polkas, waltzes, and schottisches were played by Freddie's Dutchmen. The evening was concluded at the Col Ballroom with rock music provided by Redwood Landing and plenty of beer. fg'z; .1573- an. - '5 .m. , - -,. 5.5.? , x f The oomp-pah-pahs rang out in Was- terlin Lounge as Bernie of Freddie's Dutchmen provided the bass notes for the band. Parties, Parades h Homecoming activities started on Wednesday with the 805's and the KE's winning the Yell Contest, and the PUG's and KE's triumphing in the Rope Pull. The traditional Bon- fire by the slough followed after- wards. The talent show, held in Centennial Hall on Thursday even- ing, featured Hot Lunch and mime Tim Settimi. Mr. Settimi also gave an excellent performance at the Homecoming Convocation. The traditional BOS parade made its way across campus at high noon on Friday. That evening the doors were locked in Centennial Hall at 7:30 sharp. The audience inside, made up of both old and new Augie folk, witnessed the coronation of Vi-Queen Dawn Ahlman and Vi- King Dave Behm. In the Sing Con- test afterwards,the PHI RHO's and the DON'S each placed first. When was the last time Seventh Ave- nue saw the likes of this? Harry Meyer and Mike Barnes join in the annual Midday march by the 305. on Friday of Homecoming week. .7 .$.ygmru.'Jrq-17:aqu .z. usu- 11 Fun Mean Homecoming 1 t Is Blackhawk Park missing a couple of Outhouses? Settimi shared his unique talent during the Friday convocation, at the talent show and various other places around campus.
