Ra gJ . Comm Giht 1 t As an institution, Augustana has had the wisdom to read and interpret the signals of change and the strength of character to keep moving in the right direction. It is a 'Heads-up' school with an out- standing student body . . . Roy J. Carvert It is the opinion stated above which led Roy J. Carver, foun- der and chairman of the board of Bandag, Inc., to give Augus- Iana College $1.5 million dol- lars for long-range campus development. The gift, the largest in the his- tory of the college, was an- nounced by President Sorenu sen Wed., Jan. 9, at a news con- ference and luncheon held in honor of Mr. Carver. At that time, it was revealed that the new physical education center will be named the Roy J. Carver Physical Education Center. The finance committee of the board of directors is recom- mending that the gift be used to help pay the cost of the physical education center and other previously completed capital improvements on the campus.
