' 122 the sciences. l23 Augie is not without its select groups. Essential to their preservation is a process called rush whereby each group strives to get a good pledge class. 12-3 126 5+! New members find that belonging to a greek group is an endless round of meetings and skits-of all varieties. The distinctive characteristics or labels of each group become evident too. 129 Sharing the excitement of a candlelighting, the pain of swats, ISO l3l and the social fun of formals, informals, and parties bring pledges closer to the group. Finally, HELL WEEK arrives and the pledges become actives after, of course, membership is made meaningful through sacrifice, hard work, and humility. 135 Greek groups on campus are similar in purpose and activity Yet loyalty to one oftentimes creates a prejudice in attitude and action which hinders cooperation and promotes competition of all types.
