There were the long sleepless nights of work and worry, the growing ex- citement as campus decorations went up, the frantic last minute rush with the Hoar, and the dimly remembered breakfast on Homecoming morning. Then it all began, and somehow you were carried through the parade, the game, and at least part of the ball. Homecoming is a time for working together. It is an activity sponsored, carried out, and paid for by the students; and, come rain or fair weather, it will always be the biggest event of the year. 17

AUGIE SPEECH CLINIC BRINGS STATE-WIDE RECOGNITION Augustana's speech clinic began in 1935 on a small scale and has grown since into an im- portant part of the school's program. What was at mst a plan of Private lessons has be- come a full-size speech and hearing center. Angie's speech correction students spend most of their time with the children in the Saturday workshop. Here training is oHered for those with speaking and auditory difficulties. Each .. a child enrolled in the clinic is given two lesson periods and spends the remaining time on handicrafts. There is also provision for physio- therapy in cases where it is needed. Study in the rehabilitation center or in the summer workshop is required for Augieis speech correction majors, but the clinic is most important for the chance of a normal life it gives to handicapped children.
