The Stuff That Memories Are Made Of Vivid and varied are the feelings with which One turns the pages of an old album. Faces of friends one knew long ago. Costumes and styles once so common, now so strange. Backgrounds of buildings, landscape scenes, furniture, makes of automobilese all blending with the figures of people receding into an unrecoverable Past. They were a part of the Present then, but ways parted and now they seem as far off as the corners of the earth e-or beyond. College days. College memories. Strange catch in the throat! Days Of youth. Happy iaughter. Congenjal friends. Books, reports, lectures, con! certs, games, discussion in groups, confidences in private. Plans and dreams for the future. Dormitory, Old Main, Gym and Laboratory, Library, Chapel. W even as threads into a pattern full of color, full of movement, all these places, all these people. Where does the Past leave 05, the Present begin? For these are still our property. They are still a part of us and we of them. They are the 51,113 of which not only dreams and memories are made, but consciousness itself. They go with us into the Future, and the Future holds on to the Past. It isnht an old album eit's a mirror in which we see ourselves again. Yes, the Past is gone, the 'externals are changed. But here is still the Present, and the weaving goes on, intertwining old and new. The stuff that memories are made of is the stuff that makes our lives. CONRAD BERGENDOFP
