Staff, Rifle Team, Colors; (45) Lt. Staff, Colors Gus, as he was known, had three main objects in life at A.M.A. First, his love for the Armory and Military; second, dancing; and third, Studies. Between the first two, the third was slightly slighted. He has followed in the foot- steps of his father and enlisted in the Marines. We know that he will be a success, and we wish him the best of everything. MAX. C. BAILES No. 1 Cherry St., Richwood, W. Va. (43) Pvt. Co. С, P. Football, JV Basketball; (44) Sgt. Co. B, JV Basketball; (45) Lt. Co. D, V Boxing, Honor Committee Max, a guy with an Irish temper, has proved to be an asset to A.M.A. as a member of many different teams. He has proven himself a spark- plug for any and all. Aside from the fact that Max could, and usually does go to sleep at any place or time, he always has an eye weathered on his goal in life, being a superintendent of a coal mine in his beloved West Virginia. Good Luck! RECALL---NINETEEN FORTY I. W. PHILLIPS 3000 Schiller St., Tampa, Fla. (44) Pvt. Co. B, Best New Cadet, White Page; (45) Sgt. Co. E I. W., known as the only boy Major Hoover believes deserved a 95 in Spanish, really qualifies for the smarter set at A.M.A. Being best new cadet of Co. B his first year, and being a second year sarge, and consistently winning merits at M.M.I. His ambition to go to college will be fulfilled, and we wish him the best of luck in his new life. HERMAN L. PAGE Box 22, Amherst, Va. (45) Pvt. Co. C, Rifle Team One of our quiet unimposing boys who must have a woman somewhere in his past, but he re- fuses to talk about it. As a new cadet, he has been constantly “оп the ball.” He has gained many merits at M.M.I. and also is a crack shot on the Rifle Team. |

HERMAN А. ALLYN Point of Fork, Columbia, Va. (43) Pvt. Co. A; (44) Corp. Co. A, Wrestling (45) 2nd Lt. Co. A Red will long be remembered for his dashing appearance and shock of flaming red hair. Def- initely a lady’s man, he spent the Christmas furlough drinking in the sunshine of Miami, Florida. As one of Uncle Sam's “Gobs,” we wager the Jap fleet will stay in hiding. Red pos- sesses brains, looks, and initiative which will be of untold value in later life. BRUCE E. MELCHOR 4305 Gosnold Ave., Norfolk, Va. (44) Pvt. Co. B, Wrestling Team, White Page; (45) Sgt. Co. D, Colors, Wrestling Team Bruce arrived last year in time to receive a high school diploma. Thinking an A.M.A. would be worth more in later life, he returned this vear to prove his worth as a N.C.O. Spark Plug to the wrestling is an all around good fellow. When called to active service in his favorite branch, the Air Corps, we know the best will be in store for him. | AUGUSTA MILITARY ACADEMY PAUL McQUILLEN 235 Cochran Road, Pittsburgh, Penn. (45) Pvt. Co. C, Wrestling Team, Peep Football Mouse, one of our smaller cadets, is a compact package of T.N.T., as proved by his record on the Wrestling Team. One of the few real brains at Augusta, he has the distinguished honor of never missing the honor roll. Best wishes go with him in anythin g he undertakes. WILLIAM A. LEIGH 212 E. Thornapple, Chevy Chase, Md. (43) Pvt. Со. D; (44) Corp. Со. D; (45) 2nd Lt. Co. E, JV Fotball 3illy, that half pint of T.N.T., is famous for his brains and equally famous for his lack of using them. We all know Bill for his humor and his facility for getting everyone, Wasco and the T.S.P.A. in particular. Never more than three sentences ever passed Bill’s lips without some mention of B. J., his girl. Good luck, Bill.
